Stayed for 3 nights. Plus points were the beautiful location by the sea, nice relaxed atmosphere and the very friendly staff. Minus points were that it was the same evening meal menu for all 3 nights so we got bored of the same choices and really wanted a change. Also, as a light sleeper, I found our 1st floor sea-view bedroom quite noisy downstairs until late into the night and I would advise booking a room higher up.

Lovely setting, with magical views. The tables are nicely spaced out so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of other diners. Good service and excellent menu.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday in February - had not booked but were pleased to be shown a table with a sea view. The atmosphere was relaxed, but professional - drinks came promptly, together with a la carte lunch menu and "specials" menu. We chose from the a la carte menu - fish for both my husband and myself with olives and lovely warm bread shared as a starter. We "over-ordered" on the side dishes - lemon crushed potatoes + glazed carrots + spring greens - as the main dish was larger than we anticipated. Too full to manage a pud but they looked good! After coffee (no rush to vacate table, despite it being gone 3 pm with visitors still arriving, despite advertising that they finish lunches at 2.30 pm!), we walked through the pleasant back lawns down to the beach for a quick stroll along the coast. A most enjoybable experience - we will come again.

Despite being busy and having our party as a walk-in, we were served very quickly by the friendly staff, food came out promptly and it was absolutely terrific, top restaurant quality cuisine. We will definitely be going back... We have booked a table in three days time!

We have just held a notable birthday celebration at the Old Coastguard. From the outset the staff could not have been more helpful - from suggesting a suitably tailored menu for a group, whose ages ranged from 1 to 85, to making special room arrangements, to details like table decorations. Nothing was too much trouble and they helped keep the event a secret right up to our arrival.

A large group could be difficult to cater for, but every person in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meal, the choice of wines and the atmosphere. The front of house staff were all delightful and served us with charm and grace. The kitchen staff excelled themselves and overall the whole thing was a huge success. For a special occasion I would not hesitate to recommend this stunning venue overlooking the beautiful Mounts Bay
