“Weekend in Cornwall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

We were made very welcome on our arrival. Great room, spacious bathroom. Local information including pubs and restaurants was invaluable. Breakfast was superb. Don't leave without buying some of their fresh eggs. Ps great DVD selection too!

Stayed for a few days midweek jn february to have a break. Jules and Graham were great, let us settle in then Graham came and suggested some great spots for dinner (we choose the local pub which was fab!). He also assisted in a plan for the next day too, as not local it was great to have the insiders knowledge on drives and pubs!

Rooms were spotless and well fitted out, there was also a great dvd collection. Breakfast was just as good - all extremely local and fresh. We were lucky enough to have our favourite breakfast made for us too, eggs salmon Benedict.

A great stay -truly relaxing, thank you very much!

We stayed for 3 nights beginning of jan 2013 . We had the Dairy room which has wonderful views. Like all the other reviews breakfast was lovely, fresh and a good choice, and was definitely enough to last us till tea time. Jules and graham go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home, and were very helpful in places to visit including pubs. We hope to go back in the summer and take friends with us.

I was visiting friends in the area of Looe and recommended to stay overnight in Penvith Barns. Jules and Graham were wonderfully kind and very welcoming. The rooms are full of character and really nicely put together. The breakfast was fantastic ... devilled tomatoes with a bit of a punch! I had a really lovely overnight stay here and would definitely look to come back again for longer.

Warm welcome, top notch breakfasts with a good choice of options, great advice on places to visit and pubs which were wonderful but that we would never have found by ourselves. We struggled with our bed - the slats creaked every time one of us turned over thus waking us both up! We were in the Haybarn which adjoins the breakfast room and it certainly does. Tidy up before opening your bedroom door as if the table opposite the door is occupied they will be able to see past you, in more ways than one! The bedroom and bathroom could have been cleaner - a cobweb in every corner - but ground coffee and a cafetiere plus fresh milk in the silent fridge. Little things like that make such a difference. For £75 per night I thought it was very good value.

Room Tip: We didn't see the room but The Dairy is nicely set off the hall and The Piggery has its own entr...

Yes it really is as good as everyone says it is! We stayed in The Dairy which was huge and very comfy. The breakfasts were amazing and had options everyday to suit all appetites. They even offered an alternative option from the menu. Graham and Jules were friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in our plans for our day, making suggestions on what we could do. They were also happy for us to stay in our room during the day undisturbed when the weather was gloomy. Overall we were made to feel very welcome and did not want to leave and would recommend Penvith Barns to anyone wanting a quiet friendly retreat.

Room Tip: Go for The Dairy

A warm welcome from the owners Jules and Graham on arrival.
The room was just big enough to put the king sized bed in and little more. There was however a small dressing room adjoining into a spacious shower room so we were not tripping over ourselves whilst getting dressed.
The weather was awefull but luckly there was a TV with built in DVD player and a large selection of movies to chose from and the proprietors were happy for us to stay in all day if we wanted.
The breakfast was fantastic. Every day there was the option of a full English, continental breakfast or a hot light option which changed daily. A choice of fruit juice or smoothie and tea or fresh coffee. All of which is included in the price.
Although there is not a daily maid service everyday, extra clean towels, etc are always available on request.
An extremely pleasant stay.
Thankyou Jules and Graham, hope to return again soon
