We were walking through Looe with our large lurcher dog, looking for a sit down place to enjoy some local fish & chips. We passed several crowded pubs, many take-aways and other various eateries which were not dog friendly or just full! Suddenly, were saw a sign pointing up a side alley which welcomed dogs; we had found "The Courtyard Cafe". There was a large table free, which our dog gratefully laid down beneath, and we made the most of the warm evening sunshine following a very hot July day. We were served by a pleasant waitress and ordered the fish & chips. We were really pleased when our meals arrived a short while later; the fish was a trio of Haddock in crispy batter, Monkfish Gougons and fresh Scallops served with delicious chips, a side salad, a pot of mushy peas and another of tartare sauce. We enjoyed this with chilled White Wine and followed up with a slice of homemade Lemon Frangipane with clotted cream and raspberries, and my partner had a Pannacotta with fresh raspberries. The Cafe proprietor was assisting the staff, and asked how our meal was. Having showed our enthusiasm, we chatted for a while and discovered that her husband and son are both fishermen, so she can personally vouch for the freshness of her fish which they had caught!
