“Beautiful but not adequate for 6 people!”
Reviewed January 12, 2012

We stayed in Bishops Rock which is advertised as sleeping 6 people. We went with 4 teenagers aged 14 to 18 and found the cottage far too small to be comfortable. The third 'bedroom' is really just an enclosed space on the landing, with no external window, no proper door and no privacy. The twin beds are so crammed in that one of the legs had been sawn off to get it into the space. Our week's holiday began with a major debate about who was going to draw the 'short straw' and sleep in this area. I had read other reviews about the well equipped kitchen but my experience was that it was a real challenge to cook, even basic meals such as pasta, for six and we had to go out and buy our own equipment. Also there is exactly 6 of everything e.g. mugs, glasses etc. which meant that we had to keep getting stuff back out of the dishwasher and wash up. Finally there is room for only 5 in the sitting area in front of the TV.

The location is beautiful and very convenient with generous parking. The views from the garden are wonderful but there is no washing line on which to dry wet towels, which is awkward if like us you are surfing every day.

I think this cottage would be good for 4 people but is not adequate for 6. We are returning to Sennen Cove again in 2012 but have booked different accommodation.

We stayed in Bishop's Rock at Longships Watch, Sennen Cove at the end of August/begining Sept. I have to say we were totally blown away by the spectacular views from the garden - wow! Also, the accommodation was modern and clean, the owners were very welcoming and it's only a short walk to a fantastic beach + surf school. Highly recommended UK location. We hope to visit again.

I have just spent a fantastic time at Longships on Chapel Point Lane in Portmellon. It was peaceful and tranquil, the garden full of flowers, and garden birds. The dog-friendly beach is only two minutes away down the hill and round the corner, near enough to scamper down for a swim at high tide and a paddle and a squint into rockpools on the ebb. The youngsters kayaked and scuba dived and ran up to Colona beach for exercise, I walked sedately with the dog along the coastal path. Mevagissey is close enough to walk to with its pubs, restaurants and shops. Their is a regular ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey and pods of dolphins follow it across St. Austell Bay. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are just a few miles by car and the Eden Project about 20 minutes away.
The locals told me that there are fantastic storms in the winter when the tide sweeps across the road and over the houses down below.
I will have to see if it will be possible to return to watch, all cosy and safe up at Longships.

This was our third year staying at Longships Watch and our second in Bishops Rock. This cottage sleeps 6 - two of them in a "galley" style area on the first floor landing area. We took our son (20) and daughter (17) this year. It is such an outstandingly beautiful spot with clear views across the Atlantic ocean. Weather this year was mixed..but a deal of hot sun meant that we were on the beach a good number of days. Coastal walks are wonderful. Loads of birds to spot - whitethroat, meadow pippit, stone chats, and a pair of choughs! Bishops Rock is a lovely place to stay - bright, clean and cosy at night. So much to do. I would highly recommend these holiday cottages and we will be back again.

I took my 3 teenage children to Longships Watch (Wolf Rock) and stayed for a week during February half term. We had an en-suite bathroom to the double bedroom, and an en-suite bathroom to the twin-bedded room (slightly cramped), but the view from the twin bedroom and the lounge were amazing. The kitchen was very well equipped and everything was very clean and new. The bedding was lovely white cotton duvet covers and pillow cases. The lounge was very comfortable and the electric wood-burning stove was a real plus - it acted as a boost to the fairly adequate heating system, and the glow from the 'coals' made our evenings very cosy. We had a wonderful week here, and wanted for nothing. The owners were exceptionally helpful and kind, and we are hoping to return again soon. Parking was very well thought out, and our cottage was very secluded and private. The washing machine and tumble dryer were perfectly adequate for a week's holiday washing, and the free use of videos, jigsaw puzzles and books were a great time-waster. This complex of holiday cottages is position on Maria's Lane and there are no buildings between us and the sea! The views over to the Scilly Isles were truly amazing. A short walk down the lane takes you to the shops and restaurants and pub in Sennen Cove. I would highly recommend these cottages and their facilities to anyone wanting a luxurious, away-from-it-all break with wonderful hosts.

These as a series of converted and new built cottages all linked (with the exception of Wolf Rock Cottage). The owners are very friendly and helpful and managed to help me pull off a perfect surprise for my wife… The location is at the end of Marias Lane which is at the very top of Sennen Cove and private parking is provided (which is essential in the summer months). The cottages are fantastically clean and well decorated and equipped, the bathrooms are a little small but perfectly functional and the views and surrounding countryside are exceptional. It’s an easy walk down the hill to the pub (Old Success Inn) and a quick hike back up at the end of the day after a few beers. Locally the Bay is fantastic with plenty of exposed sand and breakers for the surfers amongst us. Sennen has a bus service and small shop plus a surfer restaurant with excruciatingly slow service, go to the surfer’s restaurant for an overpriced bottled beer and sit behind the glass windbreaks, admire the views but eat in the pub or cook back in the apartment. Highly recommended for a short break or week on the beach in the sea.
