“Wonderful hotel”
Reviewed September 7, 2011

Myself and my partner recently stayed at the Landsend Hotel for 2 nights. We really enjoyed our stay.Room ten had lovely sea views over the longships light house. The room had a fabulous 4 poster bed, massive bathroom, very peaceful and quiet.Plenty of good quality tea coffee hot chocolate and biscuits.Very clean but we had to call reception to get our room serviced after the first night as we had been forgotten about-but it was soon sorted.Bar service could of been better in the day-perhaps more staff but prices were good. The views are what make this hotel -they are amazing. The sunsets were breathtaking. We ate in the hotel on one night the food was ok(but the view made up for it).Breakfast was lovely. All in all a lovely stay and i look forward to returning.

We stayed here in a premier room last week.
Great location right on Lands End with a magnificent view from our room and the restaurant.
Public areas have been updated, whilst the rooms are slightly dated.
Restaurant had a good menu, and the food was good and arrived promptly.
Would definitely stay here again.

The family room is a bit small for 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 11, but the view is stunning. I think we are the lucky ones with our own small balcony.
Staff are excellent. Very friendly and helpful.
No air conditioning, but who needs air conditioning in Land's End where a lovely breeze from the the Atlantic is always there.
Breakfast is nothing to boost, fried eggs and bacon in a metal warmer was a bit rubbery.
The hotel even includes free parking and free vouchers to the attractions next to the hotel.
I am sure I'll come back again and recommend it to anyone who wants to have a great time in Land's End.

We spend one night here in June for my birthday. It was quite possible the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in... and I spemd about 100 nights a year in hotel rooms for work, so I think I am well placed to judge.
Some positives about the hotel:
Good location to visit Landsend (as long as you don't mind staying the the small tacky resort they have turned it in to!)
Excellent views
Some staff were friendly - the reception and the manger.
Now for the bad bits:
The room was appalling and I don't use that word lightly. Please see pics - again the only time I fely compelled to take pics of a hotel room - ever! It was old, dirty, run down. Paper was peeling / hanging from the walls - some stuck back on with glue, some not! The bathroom was dirty and so out of date it was untrue. The bed was so old and cheap we though it would fall apart. The whole thing was like staying in your grannies house, who had never updated or cleaned since 1950! Apparently we had one of the best rooms in the hotel!
The updated public areas downstrairs remind me of a travel lodge - cold, plastic, no feeling.
The food was awful and I mean really awful.
The hotel was full of visitors to Landsend, making it feel and look like a motorway cafe for the attraction.
Take my advice if you want to visit Landsend stay a few miles away in a nice b & b - do not stay here...

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

It was our fifth visit to West Cornwall and our first stay at the Land's End Hotel. We had read the mixed reviews on the hotel which could have put us off, but we really wanted to stay at Land's End overlooking the sea. We were not disappointed - not at all! Our ensuite room (No.26) was large with a four-poster bed and three windows overlooking the sea. A seating area with two comfortable chairs and a coffee table - ideal for us for early morning tea (with the view) and pre-dinner drinks (with the view). The bed was comfortable if a little spongy, but the bed linen was lovely - white, crisp and clean. We slept well. The room itself was rather tired, and the bathroom even a little more tired, but our experience of the Land's End Hotel was actually very good. Every staff member we encountered were lovely - very helpful, friendly and professional. The entire downstairs of the hotel has recently been refurbished and looks great. The restaurant tables overlook the sea and the food served is really good. We had dinner at the hotel on both nights and everything was delicious. Reasonably priced wines too. We had a beautiful sunset on the first night - it was magical. We did the cliff walks around the hotel and toured the area by car - Penzance, Newlyn, Mousehole, Lamorna Cove, Porthcurno, Sennen Cove and the St Just area and tin mines. The very west of Cornwall is a marvellous place to be - would like to go back again and again! I think the seaview bedrooms at the hotel will be refurbished in time, but they will be very expensive when they are! So go now and enjoy !

We had driven to the Lands End hotel after staying in the lovely St Ives for two nights and I must admit that my heart sank slightly as we approached. The website makes this hotel look as if its out on a limb on its own but actually all of the lands end attractions are directly at the back of it, some of which are a bit tacky and it was absolutely heaving with tourists, literally hundreds of people. My first impression was that it was horrendous and we actually drove away into Penzance and had a debate about whether we were actually going to stay here (this was without seeing the room)!!
Eventually we returned to the hotel to check in. The reception, lounge area and restaurant were all great...they had had a refurbishment and looked promising, however the rooms did not reflect this. We had a premier room and the view was brilliant, the raised bed meant that we could sit in bed and look out over the sea but really that was the best part. The room was clean, and spacious but all of the furniture was very dated and the bathroom was not acceptable. The toilet did not flush well, the decor was very old fashioned and the shower was not at all powerful. There had been an attempt to modernise the rooms (large flat screen TV and ipod dock) but the rooms just werent up to the standard that we would expect.
Once the crowds had gone home, the hotel is very tranquil and the sunset is beautiful. The location once the tourists arent around is stunning and we felt very lucky to be there as we were virtually alone. Overall, I would never stay in this hotel ordinarily, but the location does make up for the substandard rooms but only stay for one night.
Also, the food was not that great. We were given a free Cream tea with our package (I found a hair on mine) and the breakfast was not great - eggs very overcooked, sausages looked raw, as did the bacon. There are also no additional facilities, no spa, health facilities etc.

You just can't beat the location, great views, very friendly staff, good cooking and clean rooms. No problem at all with families.

Room Tip: I recommend to get a sea view room
