“Farcical prices for what we were given”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2014

What a great shame. A group of us came to The Greenbank to enjoy some tapas as a leaving celebration for a colleague. We were quoted £15 a head and expected a good selection of food for this amount. Unfortunately, we were presented with a couple of bowls of meatballs, a bowl of anchovies, some olives, some potato wedges and scampie. For a party of our size we expected these bowls to be replenished, but no. There was not nearly enough to share for £15 a head. We had to eat elsewhere later on that evening in order to stave off the hunger. We've used the Greenbank for functions a few times before- we won't return if this is the standard of value for money the hotel now offers.

“so disappointed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

we had lunch 16th june 2 adults one child ,drove 40 minutes to dine there and we were greeted ,well not greeted ignored by 3 staff just walking past and leaving us standing there not a good start ,we were put at the end of the restaurant maybe because we had a 4 year old in tow away from everyone else in the main dining area and by the kitchen doors .
the squid was tough ,sent back could not eat it ,the main linguine pasta and angel hair ,deff not angel hair very thick and the hake was good but having to remove the beards from the shelled muscles took my appetite away ,the jug of water arrived with a floating insect which amused my son ,the monkfish starter was tasteless and the best dish was the child's fish and chips from the 3 course meal ,i explained my son would not be able to eat a starter ,main and dessert ,he is only 4 but we still got charged the full price ,the starter and main was taken off the bill and by now could not wait to leave ,lovely view ,nice hotel and nice mr David who did his best to remedy the fiasco of the meal but we won't be back ,was our father's day treat one not to forget.

“Disappointing dinner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2014

Our table seemed to be in an extension off the main restaurant which totally lacked atmosphere. our party of eight were seated on what can only be described as a boardroom size table which made it difficult to hold any reasonable conversation with anyone but the person either side. Food was disappointing for the price and my fish dish was luke warm and pretty bland.
The young lady who served us was very obviously unwell with a cold and I really do not think she should have been waiting tables.

“Food with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Following an easy email booking my husband, vegetarian son & I arrived for drinks & menu contemplation on the terrace overlooking the harbour. We were shown to our table & our food & wine order taken as soon as we were ready. Within 30 minutes we had started our meals and were very impressed with the relaxed, courteous staff. The food was delicious. My son was very impressed withe wide variety of vegetarian dishes on offer. There were plenty of fish & meat courses to choose from. My fillet steak was cooked exactly to my liking. We were really happy with our first outing to this 2 AA rosette restaurant. My son's offer to add an amount to the bill (as a tip) was politely declined. I am looking forward to another visit to experience some more of the menu!

“An evening Dinner.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We decided to treat ourselves to a dinner, so we chose the Greenbank hotel. We found we had to wait 40 minutes for a table after the booked time. The food was poor, and you needed a magnifying glass to see were the food was on your plate. It was tasteless and bland. Very poor for what they charged for the meal. The only good thing about the meal was the view from the table.
We will not go their again for a meal.
