“Fresher at Tremough Uni Campus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

Our trip was to safely deposit our daughter at Tremough Campus, we chose this B & B as it was just far away enough to allow us all some distance but equally be close enough to deliver all of the last minute things she had forgotten! Our room was very comfortable & the bed particularly so. The breakfast was delicious & well cooked. Our hostess was very helpful with suggestions of local shops for our daughter's last minute requirements!!!!! All in all a very pleasant stay.

This was a charming little hotel, that didn't charge a single person's supplement. The house is a gorgeously quirky Victorian house with fantastic views of the sea, if you are lucky enough to have a front of house room. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was excellent and included Gluten Free options. Gluten free may not sound like much to you guys but for those of us with a wheat or gluten intolerance it's great! We had a great stay and would definitely return in the future.

Some excellent aspects of the stay but some criticisms.
It was a lovely old guest house with lots of character, family photos etc and a pleasant hostess!
Our room was at the top of the house a pretty steep couple of flights of stairs...no problems for my husband and I as we are fit and the views were absolutely lovely over to the harbor and the castle and also nice and spacious with a chaise lounge to relax in to enjoy the views...a nice touch.
BUT we booked a king ensuite and the bed was most definitely NOT a king, I think the hostess mentioned our room got changed because of an elderly guest who wouldn't have been able to manage the stairs, and the shower room was little more then wardrobe size and the saniflow toilet (separate and extremely noisy) with a wash basin was also tiny. We have been staying in bed and breakfasts all over Britain in popular tourist towns (not back waters) and this bathroom was by FAR the smallest and least well appointed. We have been paying between £85 to £95 each one, so this I'm afraid with the small bed and small bathroom was not value for money.
The breakfast was fine , smallest we have had on our touring but extra choices apart from the full English.

Room Tip: If you are elderly or have fitness issues do not choose the bedrooms at the top of the house, the st...

This is a lovely Victorian house with an interior decor to match. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The ensuite was modern and clean. We received a pleasant welcome and were show to the room.

Breakfast was good with a good selection of fruit, yoghurt and cereals available, as well as a cooked breakfast with tea or coffee. The views from the dining room were lovely and looked across the bay to Swanpool Beach. Our room overlooked the car park at the rear, but most rooms must have had views, we were just unlucky. 6 car parking spaces were available at the rear with a further 4 at the front of the hotel.

The front garden was well maintained as was the whole house.

The hotel is just a 15 minute walk downhill to the sea front.

Altogethe,r a nice hotel in a nice spot in a nice holiday destination.

Only one thing that should be pointed out, is that the gates to the rear car park are closed at night and it is very dark around the side of the house so be careful you don't walk into them as I did! PIR operated lights illuminate up the car park, but not the gate area.

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing room if you want the views.

I was working in the Falmouth area with a colleague for two weeks. By sheer good fortune we booked this hotel. It is in an excellent location, quietly situated on the outskirts of the town centre. Entering the hotel takes your breath away. It wouldn't be unfair to describe it as s period piece! Walls adorned with wonderful old photos. An exquisite lounge to relax in - you're transported to a bygone era. This extends to the bedroom (which you will have to share with a teddy bear!). Very comfortable kingsize bed, super shower, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. There's even a carafe of filtered water on your bedside table. The very modern wall mounted tv does look slightly out of place! The room I occupied had a lovely sea view.
Breakfast is simply superb. Try the homemade marmalade - delicious!

We occasionally worked from the hotel where Jonna allowed us to use her dining room. Quite the nicest office I've ever worked in. Jonna even kept us supplied with coffee.
Needless to say when the job was extended to a two month period we immediately booked into the Hawthorne Dene for the duration. When you work from home as often as I do accommodation is a very important factor. This is quite simply the best hotel I've ever stayed in when on business. Thank you Jonna & Russ - it was an absolute delight.

Clean, quirky, full of interesting photos, books and ephemera. Just over half a mile from the town centre (steep walk but very pretty). Breakfast very nice with leaf tea and local ingredients. Bed very soft. Shower was rather too small for me but then I am on the large side. Super sea views from our room (6, Theodore's room), breakfast room and lounge. Easy to come and go as you please. Free Wi-Fi a bonus. Ample parking. Road seems busy during day but is quiet by night. Railway line next to house did not disturb us. Owner very nice (can't understand some of the comments on here about her!). Very easy to find as near A39. No disturbance from drifting noise even though hotel was full.

I stayed here for one night when I was working in Truro. My room had a view of the sea, and also of Pendennis Castle - somewhat eerily lit at night! The room was adequate for an overnight, and had all I needed. Comfortable bed especially appreciated, as was the decently sized bathroom - not always the case in small B&B's! The whole place is very clean, which is something else I appreciate in B&Bs (and sadly, not always the case!) Breakfast was OK, if not overly generous in its proportions. My egg was poached to perfection though, and wonderfully fresh. Jonna, the proprietor got the balance right in terms of being there to offer helpful information, but not overwhelming with her presence. The price was very good - this place does offer value for money.
