My family and I have just got back from a weeks stay at Sixteen Falmouth, and as you can tell from the title it was amazing.
This is the first summer the property has been let out for holiday rentals, and I am sure it will be the first of many. Sharon is one of the nicest owners you could ever hope to meet, and will more than go out of her way to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible, the cream tea's on arrival was a lovely touch!
The house is incredibly spacious, and as a family of 7 it was ideal. There are 4 double bedrooms, 2 en-suite, and a twin room, all superbly decorated to a very high standard, very clean and modern. The 2 en-suites have showers, and there is a large bathroom downstairs with a very nice bath.
The kitchen is massive, has all the appliances you could need, a large breakfast table, dishwasher, TV, huge oven, large fridge/freezer, and again really is very well designed and decorated. It was more than comfortable for all 7 of us to eat breakfast together in, before a long days exploring.
There is a very large garden out the back, extremely well cared for, small table and chairs on the decking outside the patio doors, and a larger table down on the patio, which really is enjoyable in the sun. There is also a small BBQ outside too.
There is a very nice and large lounge, and next to this is the dining room, which is one of the nicest rooms in the house, and one we spent a lot of time in.
There is a decent sized car park out the front, will fit 3 cars comfortably and as Sharon will tell you it is much easier to reverse in and drive out, it is also safer as Western Terrace is a busy road, especially on change over Saturday. The car park at the front is quite tight to turn around in, if there are other cars parked in it, which is why it is recommended to back in and drive out.
The house has a very good location, on the main road in and out of Falmouth. Walking in to Falmouth town is quite straight forward, we turned left out of the drive, up to the round about and then right down Killigrew street, which takes you straight down into the town. It is a decent 10-15 minute walk going down the hill, allow longer to walk back up! which certainly burns off your dinner (and drinks).
If you plan on taking the train anywhere, turn left out of the drive and go to Penmere station, about a 7-10 minute walk from the house. It is so much easier than walking down to Falmouth town station, which is probably about 20 minutes downhill from the house, and again a lot longer walking back up, and it is all uphill on the way back up!
Sharon makes sure you have all the basic supplies on your arrival, and you have a bit of choice in terms of supermarkets in the area. There is a Sainsbury's about 5 minutes drive away, but to be honest this is quite disappointing and quite small. I'd recommend driving a bit further, along the A39 Penryn bypass, and go to Asda, it is 24 hours and it really is a superstore, you can get everything you need, and the prices work out better too.
I personally couldn't find a fault at all with staying here, and I know my family all feel the same. We loved our week here and didn't want to come home at all! Sharon goes out of her way to make the house seem like a home from home, and it certainly ticks every box!
Hopefully this review is helpful, you certainly won't regret staying here, and you won't want to leave!
Sharon was very welcoming and greeted us with a delightful cream tea.
An ideal house for a family get together including new baby (the ground floor bedroom worked well ) . Very spacious and well equipped property with a home from home feel. Luxury of four bathrooms so no queuing!
Good position for both town and beaches. Plenty of parking space.
5 unique quality bedrooms all with different features
Dining room and lounge room easily and comfortably took our 9 adults group.
The home had everything we needed for our stay with plenty of everything.
One thing not really mentioned is the garden which allowed our group to spread out on the decking, bbq area or in the various other parts of the garden giving all of us space even with some of us playing badminton. Look out for the lights after dark quite a nice effect and surprise. Provides easy stroll access to the beaches and town whilst providing quick access to shops and main thoroughfares in the area.
Will definitely choose when we return to this area again. Ps, Sharon does make if feel more personal rather than just a holiday let.
