This was the second time we have visited the Royal Duchy this year and as usual the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was of the same superb quality and this is why we have been revisiting this superb hotel for 18 years.

Please don't change anything!

In a difficult economy, it was re-assuring to experience again the constant standards maintained at the hotel. The building, decor, fixtures, fittings and furnishings are all of high quality and kept impeccably clean and in good condition. Bathrooms especially are of a higher quality than many guests would have in their own homes.
The members of the staff are always friendly and helpful without being intrusive while special care is given to guests with dietary requirements.

The quiet position overlooking the bay within a short walking distance of the town is highly convenient.

Thank you once again. We shall continue to recommend your hotel to friends and family.

Room Tip: Naturally sea-facing rooms are amazing but all rooms are a comfortable size, clean and well decorated.

Superb dinners. Friendly staff, excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. Not cheap, but offers good value for money. Parking seems to be adequate for size of hotel. Particularly nice to enjoy dinner and watch sun set over bay.

Room Tip: Rooms at back are better value.

Great place, pretty, clean, drinks took a while when oredredalso ordered sandwiches 2 platters, they took ages, we said assortment they gave us cheese pickle and ham, they were nice, but when we got the bill the next day they wanted £78 for 2 trays of standard sandsichwes that we waited nearly an hour for, they didnt discount it much so the lovely beautician knocked £30 hot stone massge off the bill, when we booked my friend asked for something nice for the hen (me) and when we got to our rooms there was scaffolding outside and work men, I dint mind until my friends opposite let me into their room, it was fab so they obviously gave us the wrong room, but quickly left some champagne in the room for me which was lovely thankyou. The beautician was fab, night porter was lovely and the doorman James was fab also, I'd defo come back, just slightly dissapointed at the bill of the sandwiches :(

We choose not to have a sea view but the room was plenty large enough and very clean. For us the room was too hot and it was not possible to switch off one of the two radiators. By the end of our stay we learnt to open the window wide throughout the day and night. I was a little surprised by the notice asking customers to use sanitizer fluid to guard against Nuro Virus, but concluded (rightly or wrongly)that it may be a reaction to the proximity of the port which has many cruise ships stopping over.
At first contact the staff (a mixture of locals and non UK nationals) seemed very helpful. But after a while it got wearing as it appeared to me that they had all been trained to say and do certain things and never deviated from the script. Some people may like this but it is not what I would expect from a 4 Star establishment. At one breakfast we were asked how our day was yesterday, we responded we had not been well. The response back was that was nice, perhaps a language problem.
The food was of a quality you would expect, but not fine dining, although there was a pretence for it. It was let down by burnt toast and a cold mushroom at breakfast. I don't expect that to get past the kitchen manager.
When we were there it came across as an old persons hotel with mainly clientele who were well into retirement.
While with its incredible views out to sea and a lounge making the best of this, it has its attractions, but we would not return.
Finally I was not familiar with the pricing and package conditions, which was Dinner Bed and Breakfast per person rather than what I am use to, which is the room price. Maybe an outdated practice perhaps. However if that's what you want it was reasonable value.

Room Tip: If we did return we would pay the extra for a sea view room
