“Great place for a winter break.”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

We had to visit Cornwall for a family funeral and my sister found a good deal at this hotel. We were greeted by a friendly doorman who offered to carry our cases. Check in was easy and we were given room 222 which had a partial sea view. The room was clean and tidy and there was a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. The mattress was too soft for me, but with good black-out curtains, I still got a reasonable nights sleep. All of the food that we ate in the restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Star employee was a waiter called Amir. I now know almost as much about Egypt as I do about Falmouth. The hotel has an excellent pool and sauna, so take a swimming costume / trunks. There was also a snooker table.
There are a few things that could be improved. My mum needed a wheel chair and I wad suprised that the hotel only had one. There was mould around the window in our bathroom (room 222) & finally, after dinner on one night having had wine with the meal, instead of the normal coffee included as part of the meal, we asked for two cappuccino coffees and were asked to pay extra which is really annoying when the only difference is frothy milk!

Room Tip: If you are looking on Trivago or similar, find a hotel you like and ring them for any special offer...

We travelled to the hotel last weekend as a group of 6 adults. We had 2 elderly relatives with us who had limited mobility.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were met by the welcoming bel boy.
He could not be more helpful for the whole of our 2 night stay. He assisted us with disabled parking for 1 car then took all our luggage to our rooms.
The room were a bit on the small side but had been newly decorated to a very high standards and were immaculate. There was a tea and coffee pack each day at the room which if you ran out of anything was replaced free of charge with just an ask or call to the reception of bell boy.

The pool was warm and lovely to have a morning swim although a little small.
As for the food there is only one word. WOW. This was al a carte to a very high standard with a good extensive wine list with their own wine waiter. A nice touch was when the mains arrive are under metal lids which are all the lifted at the exact time by the waiters/waitresses.
Would love to return again and a big thank you to all the staff who made the holiday brilliant.

Great hotel, friendly welcome and well appointed. Spotlessly clean and great products in room including nice selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate and very nice bathroom products too. My room at the rear of the hotel did not have a good view and was quite small, but I did receive a good rate and was only there for one night on business so did not matter. If I stay again particularly on a holiday I would go for a sea view room. Lovely breakfast and great room service/food etc. Thankyou.

Room Tip: Book room at front of hotel if you want a nice view!!

Have stayed in all of the better hotels in Falmouth but always seems to come back here!! Such a great place to stay! The service is second to none. I would suggest a Deluxe sea facing room if you can stretch to it, as they are far roomier.

The Royal Duchy hotel was just the tonic for a relaxing break to enjoy a special celebration. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly & attentive staff, the hotel is in probally the best spot in Falmiuth with great views from the Terrace lounge, restaurant & many of the bedrooms. Highlight has to the supberb food, our evening meal was fabulous & the staff were very accommodating to our 2 daughters which was a lovely experience for us to dine as a family. The leisure facilities were great & we enjoyed the indoor pool & hot stone beds. All in all a perfectly relaxing weekend break.

We had an amazing 3 night stay in the beautifully redecorated Armada Suite. From the moment we booked all the staff were attentive and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The service throughout was flawless and we were made to feel totally welcome.
The room was beautifully clean and immaculately decorated, the food was fabulous and the views stunning! Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: The Armada suite is amazing
