Relaxed dining in an unrivalled atmosphere - with the focus on sparklingly fresh, local seafood. The idea is simple: sociable food and a fun, hands-on approach to shellfish. Great for fishy people but a little to austere for me Razor Fish Squid Ink etc Also very noisy with people bashing the hell out of various crabs and lobsters with a metal hammer. Service was appalling we waited an hour between starter and main, small restaurant so no excuse and edges of fish were burnt.

It seems that we have been reviewed twice for this visit with this review 'limited menu' and the other review 'oh dear'

From your review it seems you don't actually like fish/seafood so perhaps that's the reason why you have decided to write a negative review?

We are a rustic shellfish restaurant where people enjoy cracking into a crab or lobster which adds to the atmosphere.

If you could let me know when you visited so i can fully investigate this as i do not believe you waited for an hour between started and main, infact i don't not think we have ever encountered a wait of this time since we have opened.

I have spoken to my colleagues, who have assured me that, at no point the skate we have recently available has been served with burnt edges - I am not sure if you have ever eaten skate before, but being cooked in a beurre noisette causes the edges and outside to caramelise - a light brownish colour so perhaps this is what you are refering too.

If you would be kind enough to contact me directly so I can deal with this matter personally.

Kind Regards

Toby

Daughters treat – based ourselves here for Sunday lunch as the Shanty Singers Festival was also happening in the Events Square. Serving seafood and shellfish; we had mussels, bisque and brown crab with whitebait starter, all very good food. Enjoyable lunch in a busy restaurant, small criticism would be the waitress staff that needs to improve their communication skills and attentiveness. However, having eaten out a few times we obtained everything to have a good time.

First time in Falmouth and after visiting the maritime museum we stopped here. Glad we did. Even the little one tucked heartily into her food. Would eat here again.

Great seafood - fresh lobster perfect, with creamy mussels and salty samphire, had all the flavours of a rockpool! Freindly helpful service too.

Popped in for lunch during our week in Falmouth and decided to book for dinner on our last evening, which was probably the best decision we made all week! Located in the modern piazza by the maritime museum, it's unassuming from the outside and has a nice compact feel with extra tables outside for the warmer evenings. This restaurant is all about the seafood, and it's superb. Two of us had half a lobster each, served simply with fries and aioli. Caught that morning, it was absolutely sublime. We also had some wonderful prawns to share and also sampled the squid and whiting, all of which were fabulous too. The place has a good atmosphere, attentive staff and a chef who clearly understands seafood. It's not the cheapest place to sample the delights of the cornish coast, but certainly one of the best in our opinion.

A word of advice - book rather than risk just turning up, as many were turned away on the Friday evening we were there.
