“Noisy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

First let me say that I booked the cheap single room which was not en suite. The room is very small but you get what you pay for! The room and bathroom were both clean and well maintained. The bathroom was close by but had no wash basin so it was necessary to come back to the room to wash hands after use.

The room was very hot (in summer) so I slept with the window open. The problem was the traffic noise. On both mornings there were articulated lorries manoeuvring on the junction outside at 4am and I had 2 really bad nights sleep because of this.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was good with an excellent choice on offer.

Unfortunately although I find no fault with owners, getting a good nights sleep was the most important aspect of my stay and so I wouldn't stay again because of the location.

Room Tip: Insist on a room that doesn't face the road junction.

Our stay was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is ideal for both the town and the beach and lots of parking too. Breakfasts were great and our room was clean, light and airy. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice b&b in Falmouth....it's close to Rick Steins restaurant (which was frequented most nights) and the beach is great for young and old alike. The Gyllie Beach Cafe just round the corner is good and packed every night....BBQ after 5pm or a full menu in the indoor area. Swanpool beach is just round the corner so you're spoilt for choice.

The breakfast area is lovely though, light and airy and very spacious and looks out onto their garden.

We have stayed at Gyllyngvase on two occasions, we love the Hotel and have been made very welcome on both visits. The staff are friendly and accommodating, its spotlessly clean, offers great breakfast and is in a fabulous location. We would not hesitate to stay there again should we be in that neck of the woods.

The room was minuscule but most of all, even though the. owner knew that I was ill, he kept telling us that we,should be out by 10am. The room is cheap and cold and you can hear the neighbors breathe or move around. Breakfast is business like.

Having arrived some 5 hours earlier than our check in time I gave the guest a blanket as she said she was ill and got them into their room within 30 minutes of arrival. If she was cold it was because she was "ill" as the temperature that day was a warm 18C. In the evening I helped her try to change her flights using our office internet as her ipad was faulty. I also let her telephone the airline, free of charge! In the morning I told her they could stay in the lounge of the hotel as long as they liked but we would need to get into their room by 10am in line with our check out and standard hotel procedure to prepare the room for the next arriving guests. When they mislaid their room key the husband accused me of not having given it to him the previous day. When it was subsequently found in their room I did not receive an apology for his false accusation. We bent over backwards for these guests only to receive such a pathetic and inaccurate review.

I stayed here for a quick 2-night business trip and loved it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great -- a 5 minute walk from Falmouth Town station and a great beach, and a 10 minute walk from the town center. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was outstanding.

My only negative feedback is that the wifi connection is unreliable in the rooms, which is a challenge for a business traveler.

I stayed here for three nights recently for a short break. The place looked lovely from the outside with adequate parking. The room (4) was ok, not the best & quite cramped and was showing signs of ageing, as was the bathroom across the hallway. The WiFi worked fine and the bed was very comfortable. The TV, however, is teeny, so if you plan on spending any time in the room watching the box, take a laptop/iPad!

That said, there are two points I was happy with - the location is great and it's only a 5 minute stroll down the hill and you're in the town. The breakfasts were absolutely lovely, especially the omelette!

If you're on a budget and need somewhere centrally located, this is a decent choice, but don't expect the Ritz!

Welcoming staff. Rang to say we were going to be a little late and they were friendly and even knew how far away we were.

Lovely clean room with the heater on waiting for us, we had to open the window as we were too hot.

Breakfast was nice too, a selection of items available and not just standard full English. We were happy to book taxi for us too.

Will come back again, ideal spot, can see the beach from the door, 2minute drive into Falmouth and 10 minutes from Penryn.

Room Tip: The front rooms can be a little noisy if you sleep with your window open as the car park is at the f...
