“Cheaper than you think”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

I went to look at their prices expecting to find them very high and I was surprised at the cost.
Their prices for excellent Fish and Chips are about £12. This is a bit higher than other places but the food is 1st class and well worth the extra.
If you are over 60 go on a Tuesday as they do a meal for £4.95.
Although it is busy they will usually find you a seat.

“Best fish and chips.”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

We had classic fish and chips and mine was the best I had had for many a year. My partner who is gluten free had gluten free batter on her cod bites, there was little difference between it and normal batter. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and good service.

“No dogs allowed”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

Whilst on holiday in Cornwall (off season in April) we wanted to try out the famous Rick Stein Fish restaurant. We visited on a Monday lunchtime and although the restaurant was approximately only 50% occupied, I waited in a que behind those who were waiting to be seated, whilst three waitresses 'faffed around' tryIng to look busy and important, which seemed to me designed to ensure that those in the que felt 'lucky' that they had managed to get a table without booking.

When my turn came I enquired whether I could come in with my Wife and our two small, very clean well behaved dogs. I was advised that I could not, but I could sit at one of the tables outside in the car park and use their take-away. We decided that this was not acceptable, particularly as the weather was rather cold. Instead we found a charming restaurant-Deli called Picnic Cornwall (see my review) which was superb. Snobby Rick Stein lost our custom, and we wont bother going back

“Good quality, quite expensive though!”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

We ordered from the takeaway part of the establishment and ate our meals elsewhere. As we are a family of three (my wife, my 13 yr old daughter and I) we ordered 3 small fish and chips and 3 mushy peas. The fish was quality fish and not heavily battered like some other fins and chip establishments. The fish came with a large slice of lemon and a sprig of parsley. The chips were lovely too. I liked my mushy peas as did my wife but my daughter didn't. I think this is because they were actually proper peas! Although the food was good, the price was a bit higher than the normal price of fish and chips. Overall, quality food set in a nice area in Discovery Quay.

“Fish & Chips cooked in lard - what's not to like?”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

He may be taking over Cornwall with his seafood empire, but when it tastes as good as this, I'm a willing acolyte. Top quality, reasonable prices, friendly and competent staff. Spend time at the maritime museum, then into the RS chippy for fish and chips cooked in beef dripping and a lovely cup of tea. Well worth it
