“Excellent weekend Girls' 60th year reunion”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I organised a weekend away for a group of 8 school friends as we approach our 60th birthdays.
The welcome, organisation with the hotel and spa were efficient, friendly and nothing was every too much trouble. The weekend was perfect in every way and we had a lovely time catching-up with each other. We were all so impressed with everything - food, decor, treatments, rooms, staff and location. Thank You.

First visit there and very impressed. Treatments were amongst the best I have had, and the atmosphere, food and service top notch. The whole lay out of the spa is very well thought out, and there are no signs of tiredness.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights recently and it was fantastic. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and is very comfortable. Great views from the dining room and the food is excellent. Room was cosy and comfortable and the hotel staff couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be back. Well done to the chef and the manager for running the hotel so efficiently.

Room Tip: We had a room in the Captains House and it was cosy with plenty of space. We were upgraded free of...

Receptionist (Francesca) very helpful on arrival with good explanations of offers and opportunities.
Food excellent with good portion sizes. The 8 course 'taster' dinner if anything was over generous!
My wife who is disabled was impressed with the treatments especially with the McMillan approved treatment for cancer victims. She found the therapist helpful, compasionate and understanding.
When we were leaving, we asked a passing gardener if there was a good fresh fish outlet close, he did not know, but within minutes had returned to our car with the chef who was most helpful. he even suggested that if we were returning at any time he could get us a preorder list and have he fresh fish available by 1pm on the day of our deaprture. Splendid service!
I would have liked to see a couple of disabled parking slots out the front of the entrance, but hat would be my only gripe!
My wife was so impressed, she intends to return with our daughter for another go.

Room Tip: Explain to receptionist what you want and expect.

This is such a lovely review, thank you so much! It is so lovely to hear when we have made a real difference to someones stay. We strive to offer the level of service that goes above and beyond what people expect, it seems here we got it just right!

The spa pride themselves in being able to offer treatements to most people, and adapt treatments to suit many different requirements, so again it is really good to hear this was appreciated.

As for our Chef, this was our Executive Head Chef and he is very passionate about local produce and will take any opportunity to share his passion and knowledge, he has asked to pass on that he looks forward to you returning so he can recommend his favourites!

We really do look forward to welcoming you back, and your daughter, many thanks for your kind words!

I discovered St Michael's via a website for last minute bookings in 2006. I'd previously stayed at the Royal Duchy Hotel further along the seafront and been unimpressed with their customer service. St Michael's is small enough to care (although they need to maintain attention to detail) but delivers what you would expect from a much "bigger" hotel.

What has really impressed me on this visit is the quality of the food - a new head chef who is sourcing locally and giving accountability for his sourcing, his cooking is light and simple to show off the ingredients.

The bedrooms are immaculately clean and comfortable. The location is great - central for all of Cornwall's attractions. I love eating meals in the dining room and just gazing out at the wonderful view.

Had a wonderful time. A nice hotel and the spa treatments were superb. My shoulders haven't felt so loose for years as they did after my massage. The meals in the restaurant were all delicious, but what made it exceptional for us though was the staff, all very friendly and more importantly, and unusually, sincere. We'll definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if available.

My wife and I needed to get away for 1 night, just a change of scenery after a very hectic month. We chose St Michael's after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and being local we knew their reputation was a good one.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly and professional and make you feel very welcome. We had booked a standard room and it was fine, clean with all the amenities that you would need. The pool is great and the jacuzzi provided an instant relief from stress. If we had more time I would have booked a massage for us, the area is very tranquil as a spa should be.
Our room rate included dinner and it was delicious, service was efficient and we were lucky enough to get a table by the window...before the sun set so the view was most appreciated. The wine list is very diverse, a little pricey but wine lists usually are.
Breakfast had everything you could imagine and the staff replenished the buffet constantly so it was very fresh.
We had a great stay and were refreshed, I would never hesitate to stay in such a lovely hotel as St Michael's and highly recommend it.
