To summarise:

This cafe, situated on Gyllyngvase beach, offers mediocre food at over the top prices. I sense the price covers the expensive of unnecessary redecoration and the view, rather than the food itself. I am sure the cost of eating here has gone through the roof in recent years.

The staff are a mixed bag, some seemed quite attentive and polite, others were down right arrogant and obnoxious. Some seemed more interested in standing around texting/chatting/organising their night out rather than serving!

It seems as though the cafe is now catering for the 'Rick Stein Fish and Chips' crowd who seem to have more money than sense... On the whole, pretentious home counties folk I am sure will love this 'delightful Cornish Eatery' but anyone who lives here will see sense and eat else where

Arrived on a very wet morning and was delighted that we did,

Great atmosphere, really friendly guy behind the bar (and he can actually use the coffee machine...) and of course the stunning view.

Breakfast was lovely, prices very, very fair and it's clear that the management actively promote locally sourced produce. Fab.

Will be back the next time in Falmouth...

Last Friday three of us went for a very late lunch at the Gylly Beach Café.
We had our two dogs with us and so sat outside. It was 3.45 pm and the café was 50% full.
The dark haired waitress who delivered food outside was making no attempt to remove debris from any of the empty tables or clean them. It was left to the customers to try to move old plates and food to create space. She came out several times yet seemed blind to the mounting piles of crockery and old food.
We have eaten here many times before but felt that because of the actions of one waitress the outside eating area looked like a battle ground. Eventually a blonde waitress came out and tried to tidy things up. This was about 30 minutes later though.
It seemed that the waiting staff were too busy chatting at the bar/ordering area to venture outside and do their jobs. A pity really as some customers couldn't get seats at clean tables and walked away.
If there is a manager on duty, please get your staff to keep the outside area clean and tidy as you are losing business.

Hi there,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write in to us about your experience here at Gylly Beach Café. Sometimes unfortunately you are completely right that the outside veranda area seems to be ignored by the floor staff. After a busy lunch period there is small recuperation period where the front of house catch up on their inside jobs, like restocking the bar, ordering and starting to set-up for evening service. However this should be no excuse for leaving the outside to accumulate tables that need clearing.

Myself and the other manager here have fully taken what you have said on-board and will be re-educating our staff. Again thank you for taking the time to write in, as without constructive criticism its hard to keep moving forward.

Kind Regards,

Gylly Beach Café

we stopped by after a short and very pleasant walk across the cliffs from Swanpool. I was very happy with my choice of smoked mackerel fishcakes which came with a poached egg cooked perfectly. My friends meals looked good too and I nicked a couple of their chips, so I can vouch for the chips too.

View is lovely as you are right on the beach. We were outside on the decking terrace, which is protected from the worst of the wind by glass screens. They also have heat lamps and blankets for customer use for when it gets chillier.

Found the service fine in the sense that the staff were friendly - though we did have to queue and this took a while, even though it was 3pm, which normally wouldn't be a peak time. they also forgot my friend's toastie.
