“Below Stairs Apartment”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

Spent 3 nights in the below stairs apartment. The place is spotlessly clean, and well decorated, The shower room, which looks brand new, is very spacious and positively sparkling ! The kitchen has everything you would need, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer, microwave, etc etc. There are nice (and not expected) little extras like tea, coffee, biscuits, cereals and even fresh milk in the fridge. We only used the kettle and toaster as we were lucky with the weather which meant we were out all day, every day and only really slept there. Nice decked balcony overlooks the very pretty garden, and down towards the harbour. The flat is underneath the guest house, so there is some slight noise from any movement overhead, but it certainly didn't bother us.
The bed is enormous, and has a memory foam mattress, which took some getting used to, and topped with a very good quality feather duvet, which would have been far too hot for our liking. Not a criticism in any way, its a personal choice thing! Rosemary kindly offered to change to a thinner quilt, but we were quite happy with just the quilt cover and throw.
Easy walk to the town, takes about 10 mins, enjoyed a lovely meal in (I think it was called the Warehouse) next door to The Chain Locker (good real ale pub). All in all, a nice little apartment, well looked after, many thanks.

We decided to spend a "getaway from it all" weekend in Falmouth, and stayed for 2 nights in the below stairs apartment at Wellington House.
The location is ideal as only 10 minutes walk from the towns shops and restaurants and there is ample parking at the property so we were able to leave our car there for the whole of our stay.
The apartment has a well equipped kitchen, with everything you could possibly need, including complimentary tea, coffee and sugar, a selection of cereals, milk and biscuits.
The lounge area is lovely to relax in with multi-channel TV, a selection of dvds and a large selection of books,.and the bedroom has an extremely comfortable large bed (made from 2 singles put together) with memory foam mattress, There is a TV in the bedroom, plenty of wardrobe space and a spacious shower room en suite.
Overall the apartment was immaculately presented, clean and spacious, and excellent value for money.

We stayed a couple of nights here to attend a family wedding and reception being held nearby. Despite arriving early, we were met by Rosemary, Bruce, and the beautiful Cassey who greeted us warmly and immediately made us feel welcome and at home. Our twin room with modern en-suite bathroom, was immaculately clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped with all modern amenities, Colour TV, Wifi, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Iron and Ironing Board, Fitted Hairdryer, small portable fridge, and more than adequate storage/hanging space for clothes, baggage etc. We had a full cooked Cornish breakfast on both mornings which was superbly cooked, presented and very tasty, more than worth the few pounds charged, also available was a good selection of cereals, toast and home made jam/marmalade, coffee, tea and fruit juice. Wellington house is ideally situated for those that require a peaceful location, but within short walking distance to bars, clubs, restaurants and beach etc, but for also travelling further afield to explore all the delights Cornwall and the warm Cornish people have to offer. We would have no hesitation to recommend this to anyone, and look forward to staying there again ourselves in the near future.

Room Tip: Any choice here is a good one!!!!!!

We spent a couple of nights here while touring Cornwall after Christmas. Despite arriving on Boxing Day, we were immediately made to feel welcome and it was apparent that our hosts were keen to look after us.

The room was clean and warm, with all the facilities you would expect. The bed had a memory foam mattress, which meant we had a very comfortable night's sleep.

Breakfast was all freshly cooked and tasted good - a perfect way to start a couple of days of walking.

There is limited parking outside the Wellington, which may be an issue at busy times, however, the railway station and town centre are a very short walk away. It's also a quick stroll to the coastal path.

In summary, a great place to stop for a short break or extended stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have a view over Falmouth harbour

Wellington House is a small privately run B&B guest house situated in a quiet residential area of Falmouth.
The location is excellent being 5 mins from the town on one side with shops, bars and an excellent pub with food and 5 mins from the beach on the other side.
The rooms are clean and well appointed, with Tea making facilities and a small 'mini fridge'
We stayed at the front of the house and didn't find there was much road noise even with the window open.
Our room featured 'together twin' beds so individual mattress joined together into a real lovely big bed.
There is also an apartment available with a bedroom plus sofa bed ideal for families.

Wellington House offer a flexible formula where you can take breakfast with your room or not, this offers complete flexibility if you need an early start or maybe a lie in!! Or just want to try something different.

The owners/managers (Rosemary & Bruce) are very welcoming and easy going but still retain a professional business standard.
They have a wealth of local knowledge and are happy to share this and make recommendations if you ask.

There is onsite parking for several cars which means if you are staying in the town you can leave your car stationary for the duration of your stay, ideal.

I would stay here again without a second thought. Fully recommended.

Room Tip: Share your preference with the owners who will advise suitability.

We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful B&B. It is well located within a short walk to the town where we had access to a large number of restaurants and of course, to see this historic working harbour town. The welcome was warm and friendly. The advice given by Rosemary and Bruce to help make the best of our too short stay in the area was invaluable. The breakfast, as others have said, is a small extra charge on the room. But this provides guests with the flexibility to partake or not. Our experience was excellent and the breakfast provided is not to be missed. Our bedroom (number 2) had 2 comfortable single beds and a lovely newly renovated ensuite toilet and shower room. The room was not overly generous on space, but sufficient to accommodate us and our suit cases. We were very happy with our stay.
