You can't really review this B and B without dwelling on its perfect location. The Avalon is in a stunning position just over a lane from the beautiful Maenporth beach. The tide was out when we left and despite the wind we thoroughly enjoyed our paddle, rockpooling, and Kelly's Ice Cream at the Life's a Beach cafe.

The B and B itself is a modern timber framed chalet beautifully presented, very clean, with lots of extras and homely touches. Our room, the family room, had a brilliant view and was well appointed with underfloor heating. The breakfast is spot on - absolutely delicious - and nothing was too much trouble for the generous hosts. My son was thrilled to pieces to get a pancake for breakfast! We definitely give 5 stars for the service, which was impeccable.

Our only criticisms are about the house, not the hosts. We felt that the family room was a convenient option, but (unlike other reviewers) I felt it was a little too small to accommodate three in comfort. We were only there for one night, and would have found it difficult for a long stay. Being in the eaves, it had some awkward low ceilings and there was no space for a second bedside table, which we missed. We also missed having a proper shower, although the bathroom was in all other respects perfectly lovely. We also came on a windy night, and being light sleepers we suffered from the inevitable by-products of a room in the eaves: the howling wind and clicking of twigs on the velux windows were rather noisy. The construction of the house also means that you can easily hear people moving around and opening and closing doors, which can be a little irritating at night and in the morning.

All that being said we had a delightful visit and would definitely come again. I would not want to put anyone off - just make them aware of these very minor inconveniences. Thank you for a lovely stay!

A lot has been said about the qualities of this wonderful b&b, but I would like to add three things: the family room is quite spacious and in every respect comfortable. The bathroom is much nicer than all the others that we had on this trip: floor heating, big bathtub and large shower - nice ... The food is excellent, too: cream tea and different cakes in the afternoon, fresh fruit salat, salmon, pancakes, French toast, bagels etc for breakfast - you don't only get the typical full cooked breakfast which I like, but not every day.

Room Tip: Perfect for families

very welcoming hosts in Gail and Arthur to a very lovely B&B, good size room that was spotless and comfortable. A guest lounge is available for use, cream tea was offered by Gail and there is a drink and something to eat in the lounge area should you wish to partake before going out. Lovely views to the bay and only a short stroll to the cove restaurant.
Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice, followed by a lovely chat with Arthur in one of the numerous outside seating areas.
some people may balk at the fact it is not in the middle of everything but we think it is the perfect location, peacefuland quite and lovely views.
Make the effort you will be glad you did

We thought that this is the best B&B we have stayed in so far.

The location of this B&B is right next to the Maenporth Beach (150 yards from 'The Cove' restaurant). My wife & I along with another couple (with their 3 yr old daughter) visited last weekend (4-6 May). We paid about £100 per night per room.

The location is about 2-3 miles from Falmouth, about 10 mins drive.

A couple run this place. They have 4 bedrooms (2 on the ground and 2 on the first floor).

The hosts were very warm & friendly. The quality (and quantity) of the homemade breakfast was excellent (best pancakes I've ever had); the scones served for tea were fantastic. They also leave some pastries and some port wine in the lounge area in case you feel the need to munch on something before dinner. The size of the rooms was just about enough. The neighbourhood is quite and the view from the front door is scenic.

There is parking outside for about 4 cars (and its free).

Overall, we'd definitely like to visit again. A big thumbs up !

We stayed here for one night as we went to a party at The Cove Restaurant. We couldn't have chosen better, it was only 200yds away. Clean comfortable room, very friendly host, afternoon tea and an excellent breakfast made it a great stay. Can recommend it.

I have stayed here on many occasions and cannot fault it. The cooked breakfasts are delicious. The home has a wonderful homely and warm atmosphere and I love being here. The beach just out the window is a beautiful view to wake up to. Highly reccommend for a relaxing break to visit Cornwall. Very happy customer!
