Been extremely lax and neglected writing a review for these wonderful restauranteurs despite frequenting their establishment for 5 years.

Firstly, a qualification - the restaurant has moved to;
The Birch and Bottle, Northwich Rd, Higher Whitley,Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 4PH.
(t): 01925 730756

I must declare an interest - my long patronage has meant that I consider the proprietors friends, but you don't get to that point without providing consistently excellent service and food!

Now to the meat of it;

A sensibly sized menu with plenty of variety for Thai food lovers, with ranges of heat to suit every palette. The ingredients are fresh and the portion sizes satisfyingly large. In fact I have only had desert there once in what must be 20 or more times.

Each dish has a unique taste and flavour, something many Indian venues could learn from - this isnt cooking by ladeling industrial catering sauces over meat - it is real cooking, and every dish you feel has been tried out and eaten at home before reaching the menu.

Price point for the starters, main course and drinks is refreshingly good, this was really brought home after several poor experiences of with Chester Steakhouses and 'gastro' pubs where they have the cheek to charge seperately for vegetables and a sauce (!!).

Here you will be comfortably clearing starter and mains for £15, but don't let that worry you - the quality and quantity is great and there is no skimping on the meat. This is no chips, peas and burger - 2 for one place.

Goes without saying that the service is excellent, never had to wait, yet dishes are always fresh and piping hot. Staff re always accommodating, polite and friendly and will tweak dishes to your taste at request.

For those who like a bit of a break between starters and main, make sure you let them know. Personally I just love to eat the food so having the mains follow 5-10 minutes later is a boon, but i'm sure some people would like the chance to enjoy a (reasonably priced) glass of wine in between.

If I were to have a suggestion, it would be to have some authentic Thai deserts available, but from my personal point of view its virtually a moot point (see earlier comment!).

Finally a recommendation...
If you like a hot curry with a unique flavour, try the Kamikaze or Suicide Curry
Give the duck a try when asked for a which meat you would like, represents good VFM.
You must try the Ramekin Madras for starters

Just a footnote; It was sad to see the move from the Nags Head to The Birch and Bottle, especially after the owners had built up such a loyal clientele and from the selfish reason that we always used to bike there from our home in Elton.

I don't doubt that if they continue to maintain the same quality and consistency of service that they will establish themselves within the local community as a great place to eat.

Now moved to the Birch and Bottle the food remains as delicious as ever (perhaps even more so than before!). All staff are attentive and friendly. We always plump for the Royal Selection as it means we don't have to make a decision for ourselves! Great value for money.
