“Nice spot for lunch, even better for its beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

This was the fifth time I’ve been here and the beers are still brilliant. Had lunch three times and have yet to be disappointed, a good lunch, consistent sandwiches that are well filled with bread that is very obviously hand sliced (a plus not a minus). Side orders of chips are first class, crunchy followed by soft, would recommend. But most of all if you fancy a few beers with convivial friends put it on your favourites list for Chester.

“Great real ale and real cider!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

Myself and my partner went here for a few drinks on a busy Friday night after finding it in the CAMRA guide. There was a great selection of ales and cask ciders to choose from. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food but the chips did look frozen rather than hand cut. Nice place with efficient bar service.

“Rude manager with very poor service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

We visited here on Wednesday evening, and paid to be insulted by the manager!

If you enjoy this type of treatment go and visit, if you don't avoid it like the plague.......

Enough said, we won't visit any of these organisations again, this is just one of a chain, with arrogant, ignorant staff and management.

Poor, slow, inefficient customer service, over priced drinks and food, and a draughty uncomfortable environment.

A spoilt visit by the manager being unable to accept any feedback, identifying many areas for improvement.
He is small minded, judgemental and opinionated, lacking any diplomacy, tact and care for the customer!

Just incredible .......

“Instant favourite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Terrific food with a hugely varied menu, combining some traditional pub favourites with dishes more ambitious but all prepared to the very highest quality and freshness. I dined with two (well, one sort-of) vegetarians and the choice for them was also very good. Well-spiced starters and a truly excellent sausages and mash (colcannon/champ) for my main course with authentically flavoured Moroccan dishes for my fellow diners. A very reasonably priced wine list, and cask-ales and cider, one really couldn't find fault. We went on a Saturday afternoon to be met by quite a large football crowd but the atmosphere was fun and jovial and conversation easily had. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. A return visit in a couple of weeks' time is eagerly anticipated.

“Rude staff & slow service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Avoid this one!
I am not wasting words or improving their business, & so succinctly;

Service - nil points
Attitude - minus on the scale
Approach -requires improvement off the scale

Feedback to the management here, who are unreceptive,& are too busy fussing over their hound & gossiping with bar staff and locals - at the inconvenience of the customer, and adding insult to injury are defensive, rude and insulting, with a 'there you go' culture.....

A.k.a That'll do culture !

Extremely disappointing!

Loads of places to visit much more enjoyable than here, they don't deserve the business.
