By the crowds this is clearly a popular local pub. Service was excellent and the meals some of the best pub food we have had in England. A delicious traditional fare with a light modern twist.
We had Welsh dragon sausages and a pork pie with blue cheese superb crispy light pastry.

The decor in this pub is great- a book lined wall and a couple playing scrabble made it feel very cosy. My husband had just completed a brewery course and was really impressed with the real ales. Our evening was made by Saqi who was extremely knowledgeable about the wine on offer- we've never had this experience in a pub before- she was really interested in our views of the wine and her attitude was fantastic. I should also mention that the outside seats face the canal, there are beautiful hanging baskets outside, so a great place to watch the world go by. Whoever runs this should be very proud

The food at The Old Harkers Arms is to die for. Each of my family's meals were beautiful when we visited here last Friday. It was a well worth the price. The service was average, but I don't hold this against them as they were busy. The atmosphere was unfortunately poor, it's a shame they are a strictly no children's pub because there was a table of adults sat across the room from us being unbearably loud. As soon as we finished our meal we left. However I'd still go back there on the strength of the food. It's a nice location too right on the canal.
