Warm and welcoming, the first impression, after that things got even better. Chateaubriand all round, was to die for. Looking forward to going back... But not cheap ....and a treat for special occasions....if we can wait that long. Loved it!

Ate here last week and was a delight, lovely food, warm friendly service a place that we will be returning to soon, my only gripe would be that it was a little expensive, but worth it either way.

Was recommended this place and loved the quirky name so went for an evening meal. It was great from the minute we set foot inside. Lovely staff who were very polite and helpful with ordering and refilled our glasses like magic! We both ate the beef and it was to die for. Really tender and the best i've eaten in ages. Desert was also great and the evening was just fantastic. Didn't feel rushed at all and enjoyed every minute.

Having eaten here twice previously when visiting family on a last minute Easter weekend visit we felt very lucky to get a cancellation for Saturday night and as always we were not disappointed! From the minute we arrived we were well looked after by the fantastic staff, even though the restaurant was full we were never left with empty glasses, thanks to the friendly but efficient service. We started with the homemade focaccia and quickly moved on to starters of chicken liver pate and the seasonal asparagus. A bottle of reasonably priced (£19) but fantastic red later it was mains of blade beef and chateaubriand for two (£60), which was described as “the best steak I have ever had”. We ended our meal by demolishing our desert orders of crème brulee, passion fruit sorbet and my choice of dark chocolate tart with milk ice cream which was all washed down by liqueur coffees, brandy’s and the finishing of a second bottle of wine! The food really was exceptional and although £200 for four could be seen as pricey I think its testament to the quality of both the food and the service that we were all more than happy to hand over the cash and we were last out of the restaurant at gone midnight with very full and content bellies! If you ever visit Chester seek this place out, if you appreciate good food in a warm and welcomingly unpretentious setting then in my opinion you will not find a better restaurant, just a shame we live so far away and have to visit relatives to justify our next visit!

We booked a table based on the other trip adviser reviews we read and we weren't disappointed.
The service was great from the moment we arrived. Not annoyingly over attentive but attentive enough that we didn't need to poor our wine once.
The food was lovely....I was worried at first that the portions would be tiny, but they were just right. Just right enough so that we could scoff three courses!
Would highly recommend this restaurant - book a table early to avoid disappointment or a too early / late sitting.
