This place was just a quick drop by after we stumbled across it -
Finding somewhere else was full.
We were plesantly surprised with the decor and the food. The service once we were seated was great -
Took a while for us to be seen at the door and i think the waitress was confused as to where we wanted to sit! Wasnt a problem however.
This place is very similar to smugglers cove in liverpool (owned by the same company - we asked)
Fab afternoon meal! Have been recomending!

What I loved about this place was that it knows what it wants to be, and it delivers.

The cocktails are amazing. Not cheap, but something special.

The food-not the most exciting, but it doesn't need to be. The ingredients were great quality, really clean tastes.

Service was great and particularly impressed by the decor. Definitely one to book for the races or a birthday meal.

Thank Hollie L

Went here for cocktails and food with a friend earlier this month after being recommended by multiple people.. The Botanist lived up to our expectations and we will definitely return! The staff were lovely, very welcoming without being in your face.

We both ordered cocktails and they were presented beautifully. Food is excellent value for money and all presented to a high standard.. We both had kebabs after seeing photos a friend had posted on Facebook and we would certainly recommend them! They came presented hanging on a wrought iron dripping stick, with chips in a bowl beneath.. an experience in itself and the taste wasn’t compromised!

Fantastic restaurant decorated to a high standard in the centre of Chester.. we will be back :)

Hi hvwxo, thank you so much for such a lovely review! It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed your pretty cocktails, we use freshly pressed juices and herbs in all of our cocktails and we love to garnish with fresh fruit (try our Watermelon Martini served with a slice of fresh Watermelon - delicious and beautiful!) We look forward to welcoming you again soon! Thanks, The Botanist Team

I booked a table here for a Friday night and paid a deposit of £5 each for the 10 of us. On arrival we were offered a private dining area which was lovely, we all sat round a table & were able to chat away! I was driving so ordered a coke, which was £4! Albeit a large one but still, I was astounded. Some of the alcoholic drinks were cheaper! The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very good and was presented in a lovely way. I had the Thai green curry which was excellent, I just could have done with a tad more! The rest of the party had a range of food and everyone was very happy with their food. The atmosphere and decoration are all really lovely and make for nice surroundings. Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend visiting, just maybe go for an alcoholic drink or better yet, tap water!!

I visited The Botanist in Chester with a group, for a friends 50th birthday party Saturday 7th June.

Although the setting was lovely and had a great atmosphere, I was very disappointed with the amount of food I had on my plate for a main meal, I had the vegetarian hanging kebab which included 3 small pieces of pepper, 3 halves of mushroom, 3 small pieces of onion and 3 small pieces of cheese and a small bowl of cous cous (two kebabs would have been nice).

The main meal was very tasty and well cooked and presented but left me feeling as if I had just eaten a starter - I didn't bother with a pudding as I dreaded what the size would be!

I went home hungry and called in at a local superstore for a frozen pizza :-(
