“A Bit Tacky”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

I liked the friendly staff, the location, the white fluffy towels, a good selection of toiletries, clean comfy beds & bed linen. I didn't like the darkly lit cold family room with no access to heating, steep narrow staircase, the mismatched furniture, tiny tv & tacky workmanship of the refurb. The shower rail was hung by old electric cable, some tiles are lifting on the sills & paint is splooshed about the windows. It would have been pleasant to find decaffeinated sachets of coffee on the welcome tray.

I paid the same amount for a room at the pristine Holiday Inn, 10 minutes walk away.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. The pub/accommodation just a few months ago was very run down. We are a small business and have invested in returning this historic building back to its former glory. Whilst most work has been carried out there are a few things which will be addressed in the next phase of refurbishment. The building is old and as such still maintains its character Our prices are considerably lower than the Holiday Inn Express, a double room on a weekend will be in the region of £120 whilst The Saddle Inn charges £70 a night. We are always happy to improve where we can as we are passionate about our business and looking after our guests.

Modern, clean hotel in an lovely old pub, which is right next door to the racecourse and the town centre so no taxi's required. I stayed over last Friday night with my partner and we had a great weekend in Chester. I would book this hotel again.

The hotel is well placed for the centre of the city, close by are some very good restaurants, only major gripe is not the hotels fault and that is the lack of parking.
The room we stayed in was very clean, the whole place has just gone through a extensive refurbishment.
All staff were friendly and very helpful, we didn't try the food but if the smell was anything to go by we missed out on some excellent fayre.
Free wi-fi was a bonus.
All in all a great stay well recommended.

Lovely to visit an old Chester pub that has been returned to its former glory. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere with a nice mix of couples, ladies doing the shops and hubbys having a quiet pint! This old redbrick building is close to racecourse and shops so in an ideal location. Traditional pub food wonderful and served by really friendly staff. Our new local in town.

We have just spent a weekend in Wales, and stopped in chester overnight where we stayed at the saddle inn. It is a lovely pub, great location, and the rooms we had was ideal. Great price, double room with loads of room, ensuite, clean, well presented and had great character!
Thank you for a lovely friendly stay.

Came here when looking for a pub in Chester and found here! It looks great inside, friendly atmosphere was quiet when first arrived but picked up. Very clean and deco very good. Prices excellent for it being in a city and they served olives when requested. Staff very friendly :) excellent time spent here

We stayed here for one night recently. Staff were friendly and efficient at check in in the pub. The room was a good size, clean and warm, however there was a very strong smell of fresh paint from the windows. Overall we were happy with it but they could easily improve with some little touches, replace the toilet roll holder, move the wardrobe/furntiure (room 1) and do something about the loudly banging doors in the morning. An overall good stay though and we would happily return.
