“Picturesque central location for Chester”
Reviewed June 9, 2009

Had a weekend away at this hotel recently. On arrival at 12o'clock we were allowed to check into our room straight away which was nice. The room - a Premier - was lovely with a balcony and whirlpool bath. After a look round - it is a bit of a maze we went down to the bar for a drink - larger reasonable price but wine is very expensive. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the town centre which has some nice shops. In the evening we took advantage of the dinner/dance which you get for a reduced price if you are a hotel resident. The food was very good but we had quite a long wait between our starter and main course due to 2 large parties being catered for also. On retiring to ur room we found it stiffingly hot despite there being no heating and the weather being cold and rainy - on the second night we ended up just sleeping with a sheet on - another couple we met had also found their room very hot too. Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent with tables being cleared very quickly to allow a good turnover. We treated ourselves to a spa treatment on our last day which was very nice - my only criticism was the fierce a/c blowing down my neck throughout which I was told could not be switched off. All the staff were very potlie and helpful except the last receptionist who told us off for not checking out at reception before 11am despite the fact that we had been out of our room since 9.45 having our treatments - its funny how the last person you speak to sticks in your mind. Parking is also a bit limited.
However, overall I would reccomend and return to this hotel again

Me and my daughter went for a spa break Sunday night until Monday. The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from the centre of Chester. We were upgraded to a premier room which has a balcony and a jaccuzi bath.
Dinner was included in the price and was top class.
The treatments we had on Monday were great. We had a really relaxing time which we both needed and it was great value for money. I will be going back.

The hotel is situated within walking distance of the town centre and easy to find when driving as there are plenty of direction signs. Car parking wasn't a problem. Walking thru the bar to the lift/stairs was a bit disconcerting, but apart from that, everything was excellent.. Comfortable, spacious bedroom; pleasant staff; enjoyable breakfast. We made use of the pool/steam room/sauna which were all included within the room rate. We would certainly stay here again when in the area.

Large hotel complex overlooking canal and close to the City Centre.
Dinner very good value as part of package. Felt slightly too many waiters hovering especially when restaurant became busy.

Some parts of the older building . especially corridors, could do with some refurbishment and the lift is definitely in the wrong place for guests - through the public bar.

Car parking is situated over four car parks - difficult to find a space if you return late in evening.

Would not hesitate to return for another visit.

my husband and i booked i night here for our 10th wedding anniversary. after reading some of the previous reviews i was alittle worried about our stay. so glad i took no notice of them it was an excellent stay. check in and out was fast and effecient. excellent facilities which were all very clean. at night we booked the cruiser restuarant which was amazing!! the food and wine was superb it was such a brill evening, following cruise we then went to the hotels dance evening which is on till 1 oclock but dont let that bother you when we went to bed we could'nt hear a thing. breakfast the next morning was yet again superb. The service was second to none with really friendly staff and hardworking. excellent location to chester took us max 5 minutes to walk. would def stay here again, only thing i would say the hotel needed a bit of make over lick of paint some nice fresh colours but dont let that bother you everything else made up for it.

The Mill Hotel is a nice place to stay in Chester. Originally a mill converted into a hotel, this very old hotel offers a beautiful view of the Chester canal when walking on the hotel bridge across the canal. The hotel has a nice bar which is always a lively place to be as it only gets younger as the evening slips into night.

We got there at 12 and was told we could go to our rooms staright away. The reception staff was friendly enough and we then went on our travels to find our rooms. There was 8 girls sharing 2 rooms. We found the lifts which was through the bar and was very small and dull old fashioned type lift. Which u could only get 2 people in at a time. We was over the bridge and the inside hotel was not very well sign posted as it is a big hotel split over 2 buildings you need good sign posts. We finally got to our rooms 20 mins later and after meet ing two very rude chamber maids. The rooms were lovely spacious and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Easily fit 4 of us in there. We had clean towels on the saturday morning and beds made which was nice because we hadnt been there 24 hours y then. We went for a drink which was nice and the bar snacks were lovely, some of the youger staff were friendly and pleasant but the older staff were not so nice. rude even. The hotel of the nite was full of non residents watchin the football and was very busy and uncomfortable. The bar is also cheaper in the day than the evening. We then went out of the hotel which again we found the people of chester very unfriendly and arrogant. We then went for our treatments in the spa which was wonderful best massage ive had in a long time. The pool and sauna was lovely and clean. We also had breakfast in the hotel which had a lovely choice and was very fresh and well cooked. Again pitt about the staff rude and wasnt very friendly. We asked where the best nightlife was and was told all sorts by different people which was gud as there is a lot of choice in chester. After our nite out on the saturday we arrived back at the hotel at 5 in the morning and was let in by the cleaner and restaurant manager kindly made us a cup of t and made us feel really welcome even tho it was early hours and when we got up for breakfast he was the manager in the restaurant so he looked after us well even tho he had worked all nite and morning. We left the hotel about 11 the next morning and on the way home we got a phone call that one of the girls had left her wedding ring in the bathroom and we went back for it. which was very nice of them. We had a lovely weekend and would go back.
