“Great hotel for Chester fun”

We arrived at The Mill Hotel and found it very easily. The hotel receptionist was very welcoming and the room on 3rd floor was very good. It was clean, well furnished and despite over looking the road, wasn't noisy in the morning at rush hour. The hotel was in an excellent location and we walked down the river and found some nice pubs on the way, all within 5 mins of hotel.

There was a good choice available for breakfast and the staff were pleasant and helpful. It was also good to find a city centre hotel with more than 5 parking spaces - that's to be commended. We had an enjoyable stay and would return.

The Mill Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. We booked the spa break for my mothers 70th Birthday. The hotel is very olde-worlde in parts of the hotel. The staff are so warm and welcoming, the food is superb and the spa treatments were excellent.

I look forward to returning!

Room Tip: Ideally located for Chester town centre Bedrooms are warm and comfortable

Have just returned from The Mill after a lovely stay. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was very helpful on our arrival and were directed to our lovely clean spacious room. We had a special rate of dinner, bed and breakfast on our first night and bed and breakfast on out second night which also included a bottle of wine in our room on arrival for £185 which we found very good value for money.
The food in the restaurant was very nice and breakfast each morning kept us going for the day.
The hotel is ideally located in the center of Chester, just a short walk to the town center for shopping and walking around the city walls.
The only little comment we had is that the room was very hot at night and we found it difficult to sleep in such heat.
Look forward to returning soon!

Just got back from a weekend in Chester for a friends 40th!! There was a big party of us so most of our rooms were to sleep 4. I was pleased to see 4 single beds when we arrived! Lovely breakfast. Tried out the disco on the Friday night, then had a day at the races on the Saturday. 5 minutes from the hotel to the races and into the centre so this was great when we needed to change shoes after the races lol!! 4/5 bars down the canal just outside the hotel so that was a bonus. Gym, Sauna and pool very nice too.
Will definately be back to the hotel at some point in the near future.

Booked special spa package. Hotel easy to find, reception staff helpful. Room ok, but too warm, and faced busy main road so quite noisy early on. Carpet let the room down, it was really stained ,not just in one area, but had obviously had a lot of spills on it. Beds comfy enough. Spa was lovely and the girls very helpful, had relaxation massage which lasted well over an hour and was sublime. Had swim afterwards, disappointed no recliners by the pool, only plastic garden chairs. Dinner was fine, waiting staff very friendly and food good. Breakfast slightly disappointing in limited choice, especially the cold buffet. All in all though, a lovely stay and very reasonably priced, even light lunch was included which we didn't expect, good value for money

Room Tip: not 402 unless carpet renewed!

The hotel is in a good position and only a few minutes walk to the city centre. However, there were a few downsides. We arrived as a small group of 5 female friends, each having booked a single occupancy room. At registration we found the hotel had made a mistake and allocated two people to one room. This was changed and the guest went to her second room, let herself in with the key, only to find that it was already occupied by someone else. So two quite serious mistakes and absolutely no apology for the inconvenience.
At least two of our bedrooms that I was aware of had very badly stained carpets and I've included photos. The net curtain in my room was really creased and had not been ironed.
These things are so easy to rectify but really affect your first impressions of a hotel. The carpet should not have been passed as acceptable. Does the manager or housekeeper not check the state of the rooms?
We had hoped to have dinner on the advertised canal boat trip but this was not available as there were insufficient bookings.
The hotel food was good and overall these niggles did not spoil our break. Treatments in the Spa were very enjoyable and well worth it, especially after a hard day of retail therapy! Would I book there again - yes I probably would, in the hope that the hotel management have by then improved their customer service and cleaned or replaced the carpets.

Room Tip: No air con, so avoid rooms near the dual-carriageway (402) which are noisy if needing to open window...

Stayed at this hotel during the last weekend of May for a friends Hen weekend. It was group of 16 of us and we stayed in a mix of family and twin rooms.

Location is amazing, short walk into the city and is right on the river. The staff were friendly and helpful and very welcoming upon arrival, check in was quick and the reception staff were very welcoming.

The rooms we booked were a mix of Standard and Business Class, , overall the rooms were of a decent standard, some were a tad small and the decor was a little outdated. All rooms were ensuite with a decent sized bathroom which was well furnished, the only issue was the shower which wasn't very powerful and an issue to get warm.

The beds were comfortable and all rooms were well stocked with the things you need when relaxing in your room.

For the Friday evening we stayed at the hotel for the Dine and Dance in the Canaletto Restaurant. The evening cost £25 per person and included a 3 course meal and a post dinner disco until 1am. The food was fantastic and the service by the staff was supberb. The disco after was fun and I highly recommend it for a night out when you don't fancy walking in to the city centre or sorting out taxis.

On the Saturday we all seperated to do different activites, some of the group used the pool and sauna, while I went to the beauty spa for fish manicure and massage. We all very happy with the facilites and the staff I spoke to in the beauty spa were very helpful and friendly.

At night the hotel was mainly quiet. occassional noise was heard from groups to coming back from nights, some level of noise is to be expected and for the most part is wasn't too bad.

Breakfast was fairly average but there was a decent choice of cooked food and fruit and cereal. It was enjoyabel but the wait time for tables and food could be quite long.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, location is great for a city break and I would stay again for a spa break at some point in the future. I would also love to visit Chester again as it is a beautiful city.

Room Tip: Highly recommend booking the Business Class, wortht the extra money for a bigger room and better dec...
