A very nice hotel with great staff and excellent rooms. It was a pity they served up such a sub standard breakfast. Orange juice not fresh; fruit mostly from tins. The cooked breakfast on offer was awful! The sausage was cheap and tasteless (as was the bacon) the hash browns were ok; no beans or mushrooms on the buffet (they had to be ordered separate) Honestly, I remember better from my time serving in navy! Wont go back I'm afraid. A QUALITY breakfast sets you up for the day and that was nowhere near it.

My partner and I stayed here 18th & 19th July 2011, it is a lovely hotel with great facilities. The gym is well equipped and we had some great chill out time in the pool/spa . The bar meals and drinks were very reasonably priced and dinner in the restaurant was lovely.
The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant and very helpful.
The only disappointment was we couldn't get on the canal boat trip as it was fully booked, so I would suggest you book in advance.
We've stayed in Chester quite a few times but this was the best stay so far so we will be staying there again. Anni

We visited Chester for one night and upgraded to a Premium Room with a balcony as it was the only room left. It was a lovely light and large room with a great bathroom and jacuzzi bath. Very comfy bed and modern fittings with a touch of elegance. The balcony was nice but as we were up high on the fifth floor we had the loud noise of the air conditioning system on the roof of the building opposite but we had to keep the balcony door open all night because the room was so hot! My partner has stayed here several times for business trips and has stayed in rooms in both sides of the hotel and has been pleased with his stays. Great breakfast with lots of choice and the spa facilities are fab. Location is perfect too, right in the centre. Oh and I second the not very friendly staff, this needs to be improved, a smile is all it takes sometimes!

Have stayed here twice now already this year - one weekend in April & another in July.

Most recently in July we were there over a Chester races weekend & the cost of the rooms were the same as usual - that's worth a special mention given how many increase their prices on race weekends.

We had a fab weekend & the hotel is great - it's a 5 min walk into the centre of Chester, parking is free, nice buzz in the bar, good food - both breakfast & evening meals, swimming pool, leisure & beauty & hair salons all used by us during the weekend & we have nothing but good reviews for it all & the fact that it's great value for money. Even in returning back at 1.30am the night guard staff on the door greeted us warmly & asked if we'd enjoyed our day.

I can recommend this place & am looking forward to our next weekend in Chester at the Mill Hotel - I won't be looking to stay anyway else! Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Club rooms are nice & across the canal from the main part of the hotel

Thank you to all at Mill Hotel. We asked for a quiet room and got a lovely room, at the end of a corrider, on high floor with balcony overlooking the canal. (room 624) Couldnt have asked for more. We enjoyed relaxing in the lounge bar and spending time in the pool. Overall, had a good rest, with an easy walk into town.

Nice hotel however lots of confusion with rooms even when they had been booked for months also could do with a facelift. Staff were friendly but maybe need more training on using the booking system.

I came with a rather large group to Chester. So obviously, we had to find a larger hotel that could accomodate us all. The Mill is a friendly hotel with a great staff and some nice amenities: nice gym, lovely indoor pool, fitness classes, a spa, good restaurant. Our room was lovely but SO HOT!!! We were at the very end of the hall, canal side, on the 3rd floor. It was 65 degrees F outside and we were sweating inside the room! Others felt cooler on the street side but found it a bit noisy.

The only negative about the Mill is the walk from the hotel to the walled, charming part of the city. You follow the dirty canal behind some broken down buildings and under a highway overpass where unsavory characters tend to gather. Yik. I mean, we were a group of adults and weren't afraid or anything. It just wasn't very scenic.

But Chester is an AMAZING city and we loved it here!!! Visit the Cathedral!!
