“Well done Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

We've just had a three day break in Chester and fortunately found Forest House on our first night. The pub was warm and friendly, the food was great value (steak night), and the staff polite and attentive. What more can you ask for!

“As you would expect from a Wetherspoons”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

We ate here as a family of four, one of us had curry (tasted just like a ready meal), 2 of us had hotdogs (filling) and the other had the chicken burger. The food was quick and deep fried, the beer was good and the pub had quite a nice atmosphere. Bar staff were a tad miserable and were less than helpful when there were 2 things we had previously ordered were unavailable. I would eat/drink here again as like all Wetherspoons it is good value and cheap beer!!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Big fan of Wetherspoons / Lloyds; they have a good selection of drinks and decent food at excellent prices. The ones I go into, in Leeds such as the Hedley Verity and the Gatehouse in Doncaster rarely let you down.

But this one had a real off day. Probably the worst food I've eaten in a pub. The chicken within my chicken burger had been fried far too long and was tough as old boots. The chicken my good lady ate had broken egg shell in it, despite neither of us eating eggs.

As we were so hungry I just put up with the meal as the chips were hot and decent. That, plus the service being quick and friendly saves it from a one star. Just because the pricing is keen doesn't mean you shouldn't expect a decent meal. Other Wetherspoons put the chef's work here to shame.

“A great start to the day”

Wetherspoons are quite standard wherever you go.

This one is not new as was opened in 2008.

This one seems to attract a better clientele than the Wetherspoons round the corner (Square Bottle).

Not sure what people expect for the cost. Wetherspoons don't pretend to be a la carte restaurants so moaning about a £3.95 meal is beyond me. These people should perhaps go down to The Grosvenor Hotel.
Breakfast is £3.95 and for that you can get a good plate full sausage, egg, tomato, beans, toast, hash brown and mushrooms. Compare this with McDonalds £3 for a bacon roll and drink.
You get get alot more for your money here.

Service was very good from helpful staff. Always helps if you treat people with respect!

Been here in an evening and there was a good atmosphere with quiz night on a Thursday.

Love it when I go into a pub and I can relax without kids treating the place like a playground whilst parents take no responsibility.

“Fairly new Wetherspoon's pub with good value food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013

I had lunch at this pub with my husband and my Dad. We like Wetherspoon's pubs as they don't overcharge for drinks and the meals are generally pretty good. It was the same in this pub and we enjoyed our meals (Mexican burger/panini/gammon,all with chips) along with a large gin and tonic, a pint of lager and a large glass of wine for just over £21. There was just one person working behind the bar and it wasn't too busy but we were served quickly and he came over to check if everything was OK.
