“Nice setting for a Sunday lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

Had Sunday lunch here after a recommendation from a friend. Lovely atmosphere, very relaxed and welcoming. The guy that served us from the bar was very friendly despite the fact it was busy. Had the roast beef and my boyfriend had the mixed roast, his pork was really yum! Prob a little pricey for what it was but its Chester after all and everything is that little bit more expensive. Would recommend it, esp for a lazy Sunday afternoon!

“Architect of its own success”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Modern pub and eatery. Food was good, if not particularly adventureous or exciting. Car park is a bit small. Service was OK, although one or two of the staff had bodies in a different place to their minds or probably a different dimension, that or they were not human - come on folks wake up a bit. Need to keep an eye on their prices, bordering on the high side.

“Second visit and it is not as good this time.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

Very popular pub/restaurant but not as good as our first visit. Food is ok but a bit production line. Good beer but ran out after my first pint so I had to switch to something different. I recommended this place after my first visit but not now, go for a drink but there are better places to eat in Chester.

“Food not their strong point”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited The Architect with a friend on April 6th. Tried to book a table but was told they weren't taking bookings, but pop along and go on the waiting list, no more than an hour wait. We did this, but it turned out such a lovely day we were happy to drink and eat outside, so at 2pm I ordered a beef sandwich and a chicken sandwich. Now bearing in mind this place is supposed to be geared up to serve food until 10pm, at 2pm we couldn't get our sandwiches because they'd run out of chicken .... and beef! We settled for prawn, which I have to say, wasn't the best. The staff were friendly enough, but I think they have some dining and kitchen issues. Probably wouldn't eat there again.

“Nice venue, good food but....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

Booked a table several weeks in advance as we had heard how busy the place gets. Arrived early and enjoyed pre-dinner drinks outside in the spring sunshine (made the most of it!). It was very busy and had a nice atmosphere. Would be perfect on a race day (but I imagine VERY busy!).

Headed indoors for our table and were seated in one of the smaller rooms, which we felt lacked any atmosphere so asked whether there was a possibility of moving in to the bar area (I had requested a table there when booking but told because it was after 5pm this wasn't possible???). We were given a table in the bar area but when we came to order food it was only then we were informed they had stopped taking food orders for an hour "to give the kitchen chance to catch up". After informing a staff member of our disappointment mainly because we had booked a table well in advance and weren't informed upon our arrival there was a hold on food, we were encouraged to stay and were assured our meal would be the first out of the kitchen. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt (mainly because our feet were hurting after a day's shopping and didn't really want to walk to anywhere else!).

The food did arrive promptly and was tasty - typical brunning and price food/menu, but probably my least favourite menu comparing to other b+p restaurants I have eaten at and I personally didn't like the little rooms. However, The Architect is very nicely decorated.

There is no hope for this place if they can't cope with food orders because, as mentioned earlier, I'm sure race days and warm/sunny days will be even busier than when we visited.
