I'm just really happy to be living in a town where a place like this exisits.

Despite the fact that it is a little cramped and usually crowded this does actually adds to the atmosphere. The staff are great and very attentive continually flitting between all the table to ensure that you are never waiting too long for a top up drink or for your next plate of food.

and the food.... some reviews say that this isn't traditional Spanish tapas but I don't think this is exactly what Porta are looking to recreate.

The standard menue has some classic tapas dishes and the specials are exactly that - the ox tongue was fantastic.

We even stopped in for half an hour as we didn't like the starter options of the restaurant we were booked into one evening.

This is just a great place where you can pop in for half an hour, or be suprised when you realise that you have actually been there for nearer 3.

Went for a pre-Christmas meal with friends.
Casual dining, cosy atmosphere and friendly service.
Food was good – your typical tapas fayre.
There’s no booking at Porta – just call in.
There was a steady flow of customers when we were there.
A very enjoyable evening

Just been for dinner here. Service was great- served by a girl with lovely blonde curly hair who seemed really nice. Food was delicious- bit strange that they came at separate times (not all together) but added to the authentic feel of the place as they came when they were cooked (no cold food!). Lovely atmosphere and decent priced. topped off with a lovely jug of sangria i would definitely go again and highly recommend it to people.
Cityscoffer was right- the squid was yummy!
Thanks guys x

Good chef and service but would prefer tapas to be cooked fresh from order and unfortunately a few items were pre-cooked and dished on a plate cold (potato and onion tortilla). Has the right atmosphere and brave to put the kitchen in full view... just needs a bit of zing!

Went here on Saturday evening about 7 pm. A really enjoyable time, We sat in the low down bit on high stools against the wall, the place was really buzzy, great atmosphere, decent music. Tapas dishes were very tasty and quite generous, highlights were a pigs cheek stew and some squid with aioli. Was getting very busy when we left at about 8.45. Cool place.
