“Rip off?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Have been trying to book through Groupon for 4 weeks. Every date given as available turns out to be fully booked when selected. With 2 weeks to go before expiry date, there are no dates or times avalable to redeem the Groupon voucher. Cake Fairy has failed to answer the phone on 11 occasions. I would have loved to have given as a glowing review as the satisfied customers, but with no opportunity do so.

“afternoon tea in september”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

bought as a groupon otherwise we would never had known it was there
but easy to find and park when we did
a very twee delightful little tea room run by two happy bouncy proprietors
an unusual mix of beef in yorkshire pudding, cheese and caramelized onion toast and cucumber sandwiches followed by scones and eclairs washed down with a ginormouse pot of tea
not over filling but what a genteel tea should be
well done lads

“The city's hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

Hidden beneath the city walls, where the river meets the canal, in the friendly Garden Quarter neighbourhood, this cafe is a true gem. Very friendly guys who run it, and who tailor your breakfast or lunch requests to your choice and appetite.

Top tips: breakfast with pancakes with a flavoured latte is the perfect start to the day. It's a total sun trap with lovely views of the ancient Water Tower and city walls - provided you get there before the sun disappears after lunch. Then it becomes a cool oasis on a hot day.

There always seems to be interesting and creative people there - often meeting and hatching plans. Free parking is a bonus for visitors from beyond the neighbourhood.

“Nice for tea and a chat”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

Had afternoon tea today with my sister at The Cake Fairy . Food was fine , neat bite size tiny sandwich which probably equated to half a round of bread each , a neat little chocolate eclair and sponge and a lovely scone already buttered with jam and cream . Served up on a selection of odd china cups and saucer and cake plates and a lovely shabby chic teapot . Very quiet , could hear conversation at the table next to us , maybe could do with a little bit of background music , Small place , pleasant staff with room to eat outside as well . A pleasant experience but if you are hungry when you go , you may still be when you leave . It is what it says it is - afternoon tea - not lunch so dont expect it .
