For anyone with an interest in Roman Britain this museum is a real find, it is a pity it is so small, everything is very cramped but well worth a visit. The showcases of Roman atifacts, especially carvings is quite sectacular

Quite a nice place to go when the pressures of shopping get too much. Within the City boundaries it is a real area of quietnesses and seclusion nad within easy walking distance. Just a short distance from the Groves next to the River Dee

It's a small museum, but we still spent a good 2.5 hours there. The focus is on the Roman history of course but there's also a Georgian town house, a natrural history section, and a silver collection. Our interest is the Roman's so we focused on that - excellent layout, the information boards were clear and concise, great mix of artefacts and information about diverse areas of life like building and burial, not just the legions. Must give the natural history section a specific mention as well - a couple of great interactive displays using microscopes to to look at different things from fleas to a shrew's skull. And best of all it's free - as all public amenities like this should be. But I would urge all visitors to leave a donation - there were a number of school parties in when we visited - it's got to worth £3 each of anyone's money to keep this sort of community resource.

Small well presented museum containing an utter gem - a collection of Roman head stones retrieved from the Walsh and brought to life with a simple interpretive film.

The museum is quite big but it is set out in a good way, to ensure that you won't miss anything. Lots to see and what a nice surprise to find out that it was free, when we arrived !
