I like this place it has a lovely ambience and you can see and enjoy river sights...I have never eaten here but the food looks good...JW Lees great real ale -fantastic !!...The house wine a Red Spanish was robust and hearty with no bitter taste......The Staff.!!...Well the staff are the gems of this place-nothing too much trouble....I asked the Mgr the secret and he said they have been trained American style -and it shows....The bar staff rushing pleasantly to serve you...A lovely place for an informal date or families.....Go Chill out and the parkings good too...!!

The Boathouse Chester is situated on the banks of the River Dee. You can eat indoors or outdoors weather permitting, with great views across the river. Sometimes you can watch the rowing club training too. The venue itself is very pleasantly decorated and there is always a good atmosphere. There is usually a mixed age range amongst the clientele. My husband and I are regular visitors to Chester and often call here for lunch. The Service is generally very good and staff are always pleasant and courteous. Occasionally when they are very busy diners may have to wait a little but we have never had cause to complain. The menu is varied and has a range of bar type meals such as burgers etc and more traditional meals. The quality of the food has always been very good, cooked well and presented in an appetising manner. The food and drinks are good value for the price paid. On dry days we like nothing better than a stroll by the river, watching the boats and feeding the ducks and swans. There is usually some form of entertainment at the bandstand on the river bank. And for the ladies there are some lovely shops just 5-10 mins walk into town.

We met up with relatives we had not seen for ages for a family reunion in Chester and they suggested eating at the boathouse as it was a nice day. We sat outside overlooking the river which was lovely: nice views over the water watching the boats go by.
Although it was a Sunday afternoon and fairly busy, the service was good and quick. Our party of 6 ordered a variety of meals from meze to burgers and salads with drinks and desserts and everybody liked their meal. It's only pub food but nicely served with the usual trimmings; good portions, nicely served and tasty at a good price in a great location. Nice place with a friendly atmosphere to meet friends for a Sunday lunch.

We travelled to stay the evening in chester and remembered last time we visited this place in the summer and was lovely. Glad we came back. On top of the 25% off there currently offering online we were welcomed with fantastic service and good food. The value is great and food portion is bigger than you would expect for what your paying. Duty manager took a few moments to ask how we was doing etc which was a nice touch to the evening and overall would definatley recommend and will go back again. Great place.

Food was pub food, not brilliant for the price, I enjoyed my fish and chips, husbands meetballs and pasta dish was very bland.
The pub itself is great very big, with a great outdoors area with heated lamps and lights a great pub with average food.

Thank Issymk
