Have been frequenting this country pub for many years as a great place to meet friends and enjoy good food and drink. Friday 17 January was no exception, meals of generous portions and great flavours, the lasagne and steak are recommended. Wide range of beers and wines too. Some dishes are more expensive than other pubs but definitely worth it. Friendly helpful staff.

We visited the Grosvenor on the way home from Chester. The pub was warm and the staff seemed friendly. The menu was limited for someone like me on a Gluten free diet. The staff did say that they would take our order at the table but after waiting 15 mins we went to order at the bar where the staff were busy having a chat! The food was okay but we don't like chunky chips so that was a disappointment. Over priced for the quality, shame really as the pub is really nice, but I don't think we will visit again.

We decided to come here after a poor experience in Chester earlier. The car park was full - which is always a good indicator.

We chose a nice table and looked at the extensive menu and wine list. There were plenty of staff around who were friendly and attentive and didn't keep asking 'are you guys oakay' which is always odd and over-familiar when you are out dining as husband and wife!

We ordered a bottle of sparkling Rose Pinot Grigio and venison burger and beef and red wine pie.

There was a perfect gap between the wine coming and the food being served. The wine was placed in a wine bucket with lots of ice and it was just a lovely, calm and relaxed atmosphere and perfect for a Saturday afternoon lunch.

Both dishes when they came were hot (and served on hot plates) and just delicious. We were so full, there was no room for a pudding - but maybe next time as the coconut panna cotta definitely had our name on it!

This is a venue that it's fair to say has just got it right. We will be returning.

I've been frequenting the Grosvenor Arms for about 15 years now. The real ale is, as it has always been, top notch. However, I'm afraid the food is not as good as it was and the menu is often rather uninspiring. I've had several below average meals here over the past 18 months or so. Furthermore, despite the hustle and bustle there seems to be a distinct lack of atmosphere in the place these days. What is going on?

This is a sister hotel to the Architect in Chester and has the same excellent menu - I can vouch for the sandwiches, main courses and sweets. Even the latte coffee is brought with a fudge! The service is very good and the food was excellent - fellow diners also had mouth watering plates.
