My family and I stayed here over the summer for one night. This hotel was fairly updated and modern. The rooms were spacious and clean. The town of chester requires a short drive (not walkable). The reception was very friendly and I found that this Mercure was kept up better than other ones that I have been too.

we recently stayed at the Mercure chester for a family holiday, the facilities are brilliant the leisure staff were great, my daughter loved the swimming pool, I used the Gym every morning which has the perfect equipment in it for a good workout and it was lovely and quiet.
Breakfast was fab , and we had dinner in the restaurant on both nights which was lovely, I have to say the Restaurant staff were Fantastic such a credit to the hotel, and the receptionist were very helpful too.
Lovely stay will definately be back!

really enjoyed our stay from the 22 to the 24th of sept to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary with friends.Cant fault the hotel really rooms clean modern n for proberbly the first time no loose toilet roll holder or loo seat or drawer handle (sounds petty but its a pet hate i have ).It was one of the friendliest n quietest hotels ive ever stayed in, no banging doors in the night n couldnt hear the people in the next room or the room above. The bar is expensive but u get that in hotels,it was a pleasent busy bar. The food was good and plentiful at breakfast although sunday was very busy n staff run off there feet nothing was to much trouble. The spa was lovely with helpful friendly staff i liked the complimentary bags to put your wet stuff in nice touch. overall a clean friendly modern hotel defo return xxx ps not far from chester taxi cost under £5 or short walk to park n ride ..

We stayed in this hotel from the 16th-18th in room 216 and to tell you it is the most enjoyable holiday we had in years.check in was quick and the lady in the reception was very nice she explained everything to us befor giving us the key.room was clean, bathroom smells fresh and bed so comfy i dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. We did have our breakfast the next day and it was amazing loads of fresh fruits, cereals and pastries to choose from what else can you ask for 7.50 each?thats a very very good value.breakfast staff were amazing specially the guy looking after the buffet he was very kind offering us vege sausage when he heard us looking for vege option, and so as the small asian lady by the door she was so nice and very welcoming and so does the other 2 who is clearing and serving tea and coffee they were brilliant a very nice bunch of people. Our over all experienced was amazing we will be coming back and again thank you to everyone who made our holiday enjoyable....lastly well done to the boss of this hotel your staff,s made you proud.

We booked this hotel with a groupon voucher which cost £99 for two nights with Breakfast which I think is a lot cheaper than the hotel actually charges as standard.
Check in was quick and efficient and our room was ready even though we were early.
The room was very nice a descent size with a HUGE bed bigger than a king size.
The Bed was nice and comfy as well.
The Bathroom was a bit small but well equipped and had free toiletries.
The Restaurant was quite pricey but you could book a special deal which was three courses for £20 each which for a hotel is pretty reasonable. The food was good nothing spectacular though.
The Breakfast was buffet style with hot and cold options which were plentiful and really tasty.
The bar as expected was a bit pricey around £5 for a glass of wine £4 for beer.
The location is great you can walk along the canal into the city centre which is a nice walk, or if you walk away from the centre along the canal its even nicer really pretty and you also come to some nice pubs ( A harvester and one called the Cheshire cat).
Overall we had a really enjoyable stay at the Mercure and would not hesitate to return.

While looking for some where to stay for a short break in Chester we decided to go here rather than one of the Travel lodges. The reason was based on prices and extras. Paying less but then having to pay for all the add ons compared to paying a bit more plus added facilities such as the spa and our sons food etc was all in the same price too.

The hotel is OK, a bit of a regular one night coach party/ sales rep hotel and geared towards that as I would presume that is their core business plus week end weddings rather than mid week families. That said I’ve stayed in far worse places.

The room was comfortable enough and the beds were fine. The room and bathroom were a bit tired but short of decorating little things could be done a bit better. Over the lads bed was a “flower arrangement” type thing that really need a dusting and the silicone around the bath was beginning to get a bit dark/ mouldy.

One thing that really was poor was the lack of room for clothes. No wardrobe as such, just a rail sticking out of the wall near the tea and coffee making facilities, and a small draw.

The room was hot and being on the ground floor near to a main road meant you were minded to keep the windows shut for security and noise levels (when the windows are shut you can’t hear the traffic).

We ate in the bar one night and the food isn’t really geared up for a 4 year old despite them having a kids menus that said it looked fine to me, picky kid maybe? The other night we had room service and that was OK apart from a ham sandwich. Looking at the ham the pig must have died from a heart attack due to overeating and lack of exercise as it was more gristle and fat than meat.

The breakfast is good, as much as you can eat if you want to, down side are the eggs. Fried ones don’t keep very well and it would be a good touch if they could be cooked to order.

Staff are good, effective and nice without being in yer face.

Two nights, three people food, facilities etc, £140:00, Can’t go wrong at that price but if it were normal rack rate you would expect that bit more.

This was my first stay at the hotel. Close to the centre of Chester but no hustle & bustle of a busy town, the staff were friendly, the room was fantastic, the fitness suite was great and well run (not the biggest of pools I have experienced in a hotel of this kind but big enough to relax in and unwind).

The restaurant was very efficient and the food was great, service at breakfast was brilliant and overall the stay was very nice.

I will definately be returning to this hotel in the future. If you want good service in a nice environment that is good value for money this hotel is well worth a visit!
