“Food very enjoyable, service disappointing!”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

We've been to the Chester Fields afew times since opening and decided to visit on a Monday lunchtime. Service was very slow and inattentive, long pauses between ordering drinks, food, desserts. Had to ask for the lunchtime 2 course menu as was not offered with the regular menu by one of the management team. We also noticed a definite difference to the level of interaction and service on tables which obviously had more regular customers than ourselves.

However ending on a positive note the food was delicious, well cooked and presented. So well done to the kitchen, if only front of house could do their bit this well too!

Dear pendragonk!
Thank you for your review - unfortunately yours was one that had been posted on a duplicate page so we have only been able to respond today (30.10.12)
I am sorry that you found the service to be dissappointing. I feel we have certainly sharpened up with our service in terms of speed and attention since you visited in July. It was also when we introduced our 20.12 lunch menu. At the time, this was only presented upon request, but we changed this service point pretty quickly and is now offered to table Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 6pm.
With regards to interaction with our guests, it is something that we are very mindful of. We are focussed on giving all guests a good level of friendly, professional service, but as you rightly note, guests who visit us more often tend to naturally have more to engage with our team about. Although I encourage this level of hospitatlity, you are absolutely right in saying this must be balanced to ensure that offering is consistent to all guests.
On a positive, thank you for your feedback with regards to the food. I hope that we can welcome you back soon and demonstrate that the front of house is fully 'at-one' with the kitchen now!
Kind regards,
Michael

“Ideal Stop for pre or post Chester Races Meal”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

A very well presented restaurant: modern, clean, good food and pleasant staff. The whole place had a sense of style and comfort. It is ideally situated just outside of Chester. The food was well presented and of a high quality. Prices were not cheap but quality never is. Good coffee.

Hello ‘feedmewell’ !
Thankyou so much for writing a review for us, and you seem to mention a little bit of everything here. We did try hard with the design to ensure that our guests were comfortable, so I’m very pleased that you mentioned this. We are very well located for food and drinks pre and post races as we are situated right on the A56, only 4 miles outside of Chester city centre.
We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

“Mezmerizing...Loved it'”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

This is such a gorgeous place to visit. Tucked away, just off a road in Mickle trafford, its a little gem and all i could have possibly asked for. My boyfriend and i, had only popped in for a romantic drink, but when we had seen some of the platefuls of mouth-watering food exit the kitchen we just couldn't resist. Many of our friends had visited here and told us it was so rustic and welcoming. We had been dying to give it a go for some time.
I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of my fish and chips - even if the portion was so big that i had to leave half! Definitely the nicest British Pub/Resteraunt that i have visited around here in a long while...

Hi Lolarose and thank you so much for taking the time to write this review for us. Its very nice to hear that even though you just popped in for a drink, you decided to stay and I have to agree with you, the Fish & Chips is certainly one of our favourites too! Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

“Birthday meal”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

I had visited this location in its previous life as "the barn". It was great to return and see a really fresh yet rustic place with great views and a very warm feel. We were given the mezzanine area due to the size of our party, the excellent waitress was constantly up and down ensuring we were well catered for and the kids were able to play with the board and video games that were sufficiently out of the way in the section next to us so as not to encroach on the adults enjoyment of the place.

The food was excellent and the prices very reasonable against the quality and experience. A few of us were very tempted by the 35oz on offer but managed to resist...will be returning soon.

If the food is good, the price matches the quality, service is non intrusive but efficient and the place has a nice feel im not sure what more you need.

Hi there Gavin and thank you so much for taking the time to write this review for us. I am delighted that you had such a lovely experience and I have identified that Hannah was your waitress on the evening -I have passed on your kind words. The Mezzanine is the space that we created for groups and parties, so I’m delighted that it worked so well for you and your guests. Thanks again Gavin and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Chester Fields.

“Sat night out”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

This was my 3rd visit to Chesterfields & will not be returning! Yet again the service was poor & slow. Had to wait 25 mins to be sat at our table - booked for 9.15pm even though we,d arrived just after 8pm for pre-dinner drink and had another long wait to order food etc.
The Chesterfields is overrated serving average food.

Hi there and oh dear, what can we say? Well we can start by saying sorry. This is absolutely not the standard that we have set out to achieve and I can only apologise. We have made some significant changes of late and I hope that you will change your mind and give us another opportunity to show you how well we can look after you. Once again we are sorry and we would welcome the opportunity to put wrong to right.
