Description: Contempory cafe, bar and bistro. From Sunday Roast to coffee, tea and toast, cocktails to real ales. Relaxed and friendly service combined with quality food and drinks. A great range of homemade cakes, real ale from Cheshire breweries, continental lager and artisan beers, modern bistro dining using the finest local suppliers and a wine and cocktail list second to none.

Wasn't expecting much with the food to be honest - thought it was going to be a pub grub affair but we were very impressed! Delicious meals, great selection of wine and beer and mega comfy chairs! Really pleased - great wee find on the canal. Would most certainly recommend.

They had a good choice of ales, where I had a cherry ale which was lovely but about 8% so a half was plenty!!
Good choice of food, tasty and a good service and more of a place we'd go to as a treat as a little expensive but for Chester I don't suppose it's that expensive. It is always busy when we go, even if just for a drink. There were home made cakes on display too but I just didn't have any room left for one, maybe next time I'll not have a starter and go for cake instead.
Clean place, friendly atmosphere and would most certainly recommend.

We were staying overnight nearby and I spotted Artichoke on a walk down the canal. I was drawn by the selection of beers at the bar. On returning for dinner later that evening we were greeted very pleasantly on arrival and enjoyed a very nice meal, including portions of two of the many wonderful cakes on display. The ambience was warm and welcoming, despite some problems with the power, which meant we did not get coffee. Will certainly return when back in Chester.

We went last night for 2 4 1 pizza and WOW! Service excellent, pizzas absolutely delicious, gorgeous wine and a pudding to die for!
We went at the end of August (which we didn't review) and were very disappointed after previously writing an excellent review. We took family after raving about how wonderful it was only to be greeted by VERY poor service. However, last night restored our faith in this relaxed and excellent value restaurant.
