“Shockingly bad”
Reviewed October 26, 2013 via mobile

Always wanted to eat here and always full in summer-which is promising, but very sadly it was awful.
Very over priced, small portions and poor quality.
My salad had obviously been prepared hours earlier and I was worried about eating dried out cucumber slices. My partners Italian bread sandwich was a very British bap, drinks child sized and in plastic cups.
Place was dirty, tired and a complete let down, waste of money. Close and stop ripping off the public

“Absolutely Awful”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

I knew the moment we walked in and a Cruella de Ville lookalike snarled 'would you like a menu' which is clearly a euphamism for order anything it will taste like yuk anyway and I am only here to take your money. My husband had seen the Wars of The Roses option which promised Lancashire hotspot and Yorkshire pudding, so he was not going to be talked into leaving It was a drab SAturday afternoon in September, but we were by the river and the band were playing ,so happy days. Tum te te dah, tum tum tiddly again and again for over 20 mins, slightly worried about the bing bing sounds emitting from the kitchen, could they be defrosting the Wars of the Roses dish? Only two other tables taken in the cafe which seats approx 50+ somewhat disconcerting. Oh and we had to pay when ordering, completely obvious now why they have that rule. Hurrah after 30 mins a young man, perhaps the chef brought our food. My smoked salmon sandwich with cream cheese was bereft of substance, to make it work I removed one of the two slices (of the obviously just defrosted bread) and tried to make a decent mouthful of half of the meal - to no avail, ooh crisps, uh cardboard, ooh salad, uh iceberg again defrosted, just leave it. How are you getting on darling with your War of the Roses, well dear the potatoes are still frozen and the rest is unedible . H'm, hey my afternoon tea included a scone and jam - sorry a white, dry, lump of defrosted chewy inedible slop, with a splodge of somebody's value jam on the side. It could be so good, so it is a shame, it is a travesty, it is so bad that it keeps you in touch with your sense of humour, £15.60 for a 30 minute wait, oh and I haven't even mentioned the state of the toilets, it will close very soon, and I am sorry but do they think the public are completely stupid.

“A rip off - ugly place and poor food”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

This place lives exclusively off the location it is at. They clearly take all the money they make without investing a penny. Everything is cheap apart from the prices: plastic chairs, plastic cutlery, poor service and food missing quality. If you fancy a riverside lunch, chose another place!

“POOR FOOD & SERVICE- do not visit”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We recently visited this cafe for lunch and we are very disappointed with the food, pricing and customer service. We ordered sandwiches - and were shocked by the the poor bread and fillings. Everything appeared cheap and processed as opposed to "fresh and home-made" in which they were described. I would not suggest that anyone eats at this cafe as she will be disappointed for sure. It is a great shame as the location is just perfect.
