This play area was great when it first opened when my daughter was a baby, however things have changed! It appears to be a dumping ground for people who can't be bothered to look after their children. The last four times we have gone there it seems the 'under 3's' area is plagued by 'big kids' running around, you can tell the staff but they are never bothered! My friends daughter was bitten by an unsupervised toddler last time we went there! There is a 'sensory room' full of old toys with no batteries in them. The older kids like to drag the furniture round blocking the entrance though! And again full of older children who's parents are busy smoking outside the front door! The staff say there is nothing they can do to stop people standing outside the front door creating a cloud of smoke for you to bring your children through! Much better ways to spend a day! Plenty of other play centres in Chester!
First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and your comments. Feedback like yours is very important to us, so we know where we can improve our services to our customers.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for an unsatisfactory visit to Funky Town. We have considered your comments and have made the following changes. These will be in place for the summer holidays.
- A safety gate installed to the entry of the sensory room. A clear sign will also be placed on entry indicating access measures.
- The children's plastic tables and chairs have been moved which were housed near to the sensory room. This will deter children from moving the tables into the sensory room.
- A designated smoking area installed away from the entry doors. The smoking area will be clearly sign posted and provide a rain shelter for smokers.
- Clearer signs reminding parents to supervise their children. We currently play regular voice overs reminding guests to supervise their children as well as playing safety play notices to the children.
-The sensory room was created to provide a unique facility for our customers with young babies and children with autism. £5000 was invested towards this facility to offer something to the local community. The room is free of charge for babies and offers a visual/ audio experience. The toys provided are an added extra for toddlers. They do not form part of the sensory room experience. We will however look at adding new sensory toys into the room.
At Funky Town we care a great deal about the safety of our guests. We have CCTV in operation, security gates and we are active members of the Play Providers Association, which represents the highest quality indoor play centers in the UK. We are also recognised by the food standards agency for all our efforts and we are consistently awarded the 5 star scores on the doors. This is the highest award that a catering facility can receive. Our staff work very hard to ensure these standards are kept.
Once again thank you for your comments. I hope you visit us again soon to see the positive changes from your valued feedback.
