Description: Fabulous pub food produced in a great British, traditional, friendly and inviting surroundings. The award winning kitchen is a hive of creativity where the venue's passionate, talented, and creative Head Chef, along with the rest of the dedicated team, work their magic as they cook freshly prepared, and locally sourced meat, fish, veg and dairy products, as well as freshly baked artisan breads. The seasonally changing, modern Great British-Style menu's, are the epiphany of today's "gastro-style" pub restaurants, but along with a sense of the "home-comforts", often contain that "twist" on tradition, as well as flavours and variants on recipes from all over the World.

You need to book, have been a number of times and never been disapointed. Food very good, a variety and nice flavour combinations. Staff welcoming and helpful. A couple of cask ales usually on plus the normal beers and lagers. Some very good wines on the short, but good value wine list.

having seen the menu on the website, was looking foreward to the game or belly pork on a really interesting menu.when we arrived we found the staff freindly and the pub very clean and welcoming. there was a choice of real ale but both of my choices went flat very quickly. all the tables were set for eating which took away the more relaxed feeling if you just required a drink and made us feel uneasy, however as we intended to eat anyway we asked for a menu but was told there was only pies and wierd ones at that such as sheperds pie without the shephers, gammon and pineapple and some other odd concoction, if this wasnt bad enough you could only have them as a 3 course with apple pie and some strange starter @ a cost of £10.99. we left along with another couple who decided not to eat.

I am extremely saddened to read about your experience when you visited us last week, as for the real ales you received that went flat, that really disappoints me as we pride ourselves on our cask ales and have a very tight procedure on how they are looked after so i would like to thank you for bringing this to my attention so i can address it asap to make sure this doesn't happen again.
From reading your review i gather you visited us on a tuesday evening, as on a Tuesday we offer a set menu where the theme of the set menu changes every week, we've had themes from Thai and italian to game and pie and many more. we call it "Whats for tea on tuesday?" and we offer 3 courses for £12.95. Due to the evening on a weekly basis being such a success we do not advertise the normal menu just simply down to volume of customers booking for the 3 course offer, but at the greyhound we will always try and please everyone and if the 3 course menu on a Tuesday didn't wet someones appetite we would always offer the normal main as we never want any of our customers leaving without dining with us if that was their intention.

I really hope my explanation has made what we do on a Tuesday a little clearer, and sincerely hope you visit us at The greyhound Inn again to enjoy our menu that we are very proud.

Many thanks

Tom Hughes

What a turnaround for the Greyhound Inn. Its got to be the best place in Chester for a proper gastro pub meal and real ales. The staff are very attentive, knowledgable and the food is even better. The steak is to die for!!! Go along, you won't be disappointed!!!

Staff were pleasant and sociable and nothing was too much trouble
A variety of dishes to suit everyone's taste, reasonably priced and a decent cup of tea!
A really nice relaxed atmosphere will be making it a regular place to dine.
