Been visit Chester zoo for the first time today. I must say I throughly enjoyed it withy fiancé. Even though some of the anmials were hiding we still managed see most of them. But oakflied house that has been turned into a pub doesn't really offer much pub like food. So we ended up going June's pavilion and enjoyed the food that was on offer there. Would certainly go again

“Wasp Central !”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Went over the Bank Holiday, and this combined with a sunny day, I expected it to be packed. However, because of the numbers there, it was difficult at times to actually see a lot of the animals. Unless one counts wasps as part of the exhibits. I have never seen so many wasps in on place, and this includes the nest of them I had in my garden 2 years ago. This said, it is a massive place, and I would advise any adults that wish to visit, to go on a day outside of both school holidays and wasp season. Also, take your own food, and drinks, on the expensive side on site. We enjoyed the walk not just around the zoo, but also from the back of the field that was the extended car park. (approx. 10 mins.) They do marvellous conservation work, and the animals food bill alone must be astronomical, hence, I suppose, why it cost us £64.00 for 2 children and 2 adults. Still, we have been now. Next time, Colwyn Bay Mountain Zoo.

“BusyBusy!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Me and my boyfriend visited Chester Zoo during the VERY hot period in June. After queuing up for what seemed like an eternity (Id recommend booking online to skip the queues) we finally got in!
As soon we got through the gates there were school children everywhere and i mean everywhere, shoving past, yelling and swearing.. Brilliant!
Some of the animals as they were all hiding in the shade like the lions, tigers, rhino etc. but the ones we did see were excellent, we could get really close to them and get some wonderful pictures. The only thing that did put us off were the animal houses - cramped walkways, VERY hot and VERY smelly!
I would recommend a good pair of walking shoes as the park took us a good 4 hours to get round, by the time we got near the end we were both fed up and tired.

All in all though it was a brilliant day out, got lots of lovely pictures and memories :)

“Fab day out!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Visited in a party of 4 adults and 2 children and enjoyed a fabulous day out!
The weather wasn't brilliant but we did manage to dodge the showers and ate our picnic at the well placed tables by the ducks.

The Zoo map is easily followed (our 7year old used it to guide us!) and there are lots of signposts and well laid out pathways for prams and wheelchairs.

All the animals appeared to be in great condition, were contented and their enclosures were well situated. The baby cheetahs and baby elephants were our favourites and we especially loved watching the meerkat families!

Just one negative observation to point out; some of the information boards around the enclosures are a little precarious for the height of the average height 3 year olds and spoil the views of wheelchair users.

Thank you for a FAB day which left us with two tired out youngsters and many happy memories..
