Initially questioned the high entrance fee (£50 for 2 adults and a 3 year old) but, having now visited think it was totally justified. We spent 5 hours there and did not see everything. We all had our favourites - could have watched the orang-utans all day and the viewing area which allowed you to see underwater in the giant otters enclosure was really clever. Food was expensive but they had lots of picnic areas (including an indoor one) so would be really easy to take your own food and make it cheaper. There were also a couple of children's play areas. We hired a buggy for our 3 year old (we don't own a pram any more) which was a good move as there is a lot of ground to cover.

I enjoyed a day out with my boyfriend on a weekend away in Chester. This was a lovely day out. The Zoo is situated in very large grounds with plenty to do and see. If you are travelling with a family, take a picnic and drinks as it is very expensive to eat, ie; £7:35 for a bagel !!!! You will need to plan your trip on the map they give you or else you will walk more than you need to which may be too much for small children.

I have been every year for the last 5 years and I must admit its getting better every year....

While the animals are pretty much the same as every other year, the park is looking amazing and the facilities have been improved significantly, with better places to eat, better shop and finally a penguin enclosure where you can see them swim.

I went with my wife and 2 year old daughter. We were dubious about going as on every other visit to a zoo or farm our daughter hasn't enjoyed it, more for being scared of animals more than anything else. Chester zoo hopefully has cured this. She loved it I think mainly because of the the baby animals she got to see, all we heard on the way home was about the animals she saw and the noises they make.

I though the £20 per adult was food value for money, we were there for 4 hours and Poppy was free. The only draw back of the day was I didn't get to visit blue planet on the way home as usual, but if we go there it normally means Poppy hasn't enjoyed the zoo and we've left early. We'll be back very soon....

we had a superb day out with the family at the zoo, plently to see and do and food prices were reasonable. Animals were excellent and we were able to see all of them.
Could use more cash machines and toilets.
Will be visiting again soon.
