“Bit disappointed”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

the environment and setting were out of this world, but we didn't see many animals! The natural habitat is obviously well thought out and a lot of money has been spent on the zoo. The monorail was extra to the £51 to get in. Didn't do that.

“Excellent day out but confusing to navigate round at times.”
Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

Visited the zoo for the 2nd time with my 4 year old son to see the dinosaur exhibits. Some of these were very lifelike, the piece de resistance being the T Rex, very frightening, especially it's eyes!
Lunchtime was surprisingly good value in Junes cafe - busy, even for a school day but a chicken breast burger, chips, salad & onion rings only £4.50 for a childrens meal (which I also ordered for myself) ample enough portion for an everyday mummy!
All the enclosures were clean and animals look very well cared for. My one and only concern was the spirit of the jaguar enclosure where one jaguar was definitely pacing up and down along the viewing windows. I felt that I wanted to ask someone who worked there if the Jaguar was ok but no one was there. From time to time I find myself questioning what kind of life these animals have but to be honest I think Chester is very respectful of trying to imitate the animals natural habitat.
I will definitely come back again and recommend anyone to visit.

“Fantastic Day Out For All The Family”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

We have just returned from a family day at the zoo - age ranges from 11 - 73yrs, wow. We all had a fabulous day out. We too were impressed by the conservation and animal welfare and the effort to 'go green', well done. Most of all we loved the vast array of animals, including lots of baby animals, the giraffe was adorable, the baby monkeys, meercats, elephants, bush dogs - to name just a few, but the giraffe won hands down. We took a picnic and there were lots of seating areas to rest (much needed), but our granddaughter decided to try a burger at the cafe - Junes I think it was called, she enjoyed it very much and compared to other eateries, the price was reasonable, and came with fresh salad as well as chips and very prompt service. We bought the ticket on line so saved a bit, but it was great value for money as we spent 6 pleasant hours there - will definitely be back. Well done Chester Zoo.

“Family day out with wife and 2 year old daughter”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

So basically its a zoo. So you get your usual Zoo type stuff. Highlights for us were the Elephants, Giraffes, Monkeys and the lions and Tigers. There are some good playgrounds for the kids and plenty of places to eat a picnic (which you must bring as the food is very expensive as is the norm for these sorts of places)

Not the cheapest place to get into but it is a zoo which does a lot of good work for animal welfare etc etc so shoudnt complain really. Good day out overall. Though not the easiest place to find your way around............
