“It fully met our expectations and we enjoyed it.”
Reviewed October 13, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

The property was exactly as described in the prospectus and very clean. As we were staying with our daughter, son in law and 15 month old grandson, we asked for a stair gate, high chair and travel cot which were all put out for us. Quite understandably a cot mattress was not provided but was easy to put in the car at home.

As with other previous users, the grandparents were in the twin room downstairs and the family had the use of the double room and the twin bedded room upstairs. The kitchen and lounge areas are generously proportioned and the the dishwasher, washing machine and oven were put to good use. A small criticism would be that the grill is not very powerful - it works but it is slow. There was an early issue with the wifi but the owner, Jayne Wilson, sorted it and there were no subsequent problems. The fridge freezer is very efficient and a decent size for the property.

The village is a five minute walk away and there is a chemist, two pubs, a butcher/ deli ( lovely sausages!) a newspaper shop and a restaurant.

Chester is around 20 minutes away as is Wrexham and we all had an enjoyable stay with plenty to occupy us.

Liked best: Comfortable and peaceful. The knowledge that if something were to go wrong, the owner was readily contactable and with the capability to put it right.
Liked least: The grill.

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. The large twin bedded room together with the adjacent bathroom on the ground floor are ideal for guests who cannot manage the stairs. It is a nice private area off the hall from the lounge. Delighted that you enjoyed the sausages from our local butcher in the village! Thanks again - Jayne Wilson - Property Owner

I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Oak Lodge situated opposite the Oak Barns. It is an ideal property to stay in if you have young children because it is detached and has its own private garden for them to play in. I agree with you that the views over the Welsh Hills are really lovely. Hope to welcome you back another time. Jayne Wilson, property owner.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay in the Oak Barns and that you liked the village of Farndon. Chester is only about 7 miles from the Oak Barns and Liverpool has much to offer visitors. Guests love the Albert Docks where there is plenty to see and do and not forgetting the wide choice of restaurants as well. The Cavern Club, where The Beatles used to play, and the ferry trip across the Mersey are also favourites. Thanks for the review. Jayne Wilson, Property Owner.

Many thanks for your review. The village of Farndon is very easily accessed from the Oak Barns especially if you want to stroll along for an evening drink or a meal. The walks are lovely particularly along the river bank where my husband and I regularly walk our dog. Delighted that you found the accommodation suitable for a young baby as well. “Very good rental, great location, very well managed”
Reviewed March 11, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Stayed for two months and were very comfortable in well appointed accommodation. The accommodation was well furnished and decorated , very well equipped and nice and warm for winter living and also good outdoor areas/garde for summer. Great views and very quiet but within a short walk of the village centre and the River Dee.. An excellent location for walking in Cheshire , Wirral and in easy reach of North Wales. Loads of great pubs in the area with great food. Trips to Manchester and Liverpool were easily accessed following a short drive to Chester.

The owner Jayne was extremely friendly helpful and always on hand if required.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and found the accommodation to your satisfaction. As you know I live within the grounds of the Oak Barns and like to meet and greet my guests to help them settle in. My family and I regularly walk into the village of Farndon to enjoy the good pubs and to exercise our dog in the lovely countryside.

“Good stay but a few issues need sorting, then it would be far better.”

Had a good stay, but a few issues need resolving! The upstairs bedroom door could be made to close off the bedroom, then visitors don't need to go through the bedroom to the bathroom! Taps are wrong way round, The bedroom floor ,upstairs, needs soundproofing!
We stayed in Winter, perhaps a Summer holiday would be different, but it was Christmas so we spent more time indoors.

Many thanks for your review. The bedroom on the first floor which has the king sized bed in it has its own private ensuite bathroom. The main family bathroom for visitors is a completely separate room on the ground floor next door to the large twin bedded bedroom. Families with young children prefer to stay in the two bedrooms on the first floor and other guests or relatives can then enjoy the privacy of the ground floor bedroom with the adjoining family bathroom. Thank you for mentioning that the bedroom floor needs soundproofing. I will consider investing in thicker underlay and carpets when the carpets are due for replacement. Thank you again for taking the time to write your comments. Jayne Wilson, Property Owner.
