Visit this but a little disappointed. Not may market stalls and overall everything was very expensive. If you have children it is beautiful to look at but ever activity is priced very high and could work out expensive with a couple of children.

The races is a great day out, very popular and a great way to spend a fun day out with friends. An excuse to dress up and party.

I was with a group of friends who went to enjoy an evening at the races. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The rain did not help, but the views were poor, and whilst it attracted a huge crowd it was obvious there were young girls and boys who were drinking underage and were far the worse for wear. We gave up after an hour, went into the City, which thankfully was only a stroll away and enjoyed an evening at a restaurant - I would say the races were a waste of money.

Wonderful atmosphere and very close to Chester centre. There's more going on here than you realise and plenty of catering options.

Not the best after or during heavy rain - avoid the infield!

We are keen race goers and used to enjoy our days out at Chester racecourse.
It attract large crowds on race days particularly the big meetings and family day.
For how much money is generated you'd presume that money would be plowed back in to improve the visitor experience. but alas there seems little of this activity here.
Since the demise of the tote it has been replaced by Chester bet and Bangor bet at the sister NH track.
Its difficult to place the bets as with the tote and weree amazed to only get 1/6 of the odds on some races, what a rip off!
As the track is circular and there are buildings inside there is a very limited viewing apart from the big screens of which I might complain there are not enough or placed strategically or just not large enough.
The last 2 times we've been Chester for the races we've had a meal and drinks in The Architect and wandered down to the City Walls at the bottom of the garden and got a better view of the racing.
If you want to bet you'd have to visit the bookmakers on the way down but in the end you'd probably save money.
The admission price saved can be used to get a nice evening dinner in town later.
However if you're just having the day out drinking and gambling the atmosphere at Chester is second to none.
