We popped into the Red Lion on our first evening in Chester for a drink and really like the atmosphere. We returned the evening after to dine and that was just as lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and all three of us asked for adaptions to our meals and what we asked for was met. The menu is good and more than reasonably priced. In the words of my son 'this is the best burger I have ever had'. The Red Lion is suitable placed, near the city center and the sights and the lovely Rufus Court nearby, also easy to access to the city walls. Would highly recommend the Red Lion to anyone who is visiting Chester. ps The night we were there, a Tuesday, they hold a special deal - two main courses and a bottle of wine for £20 - bargain :)

Although not on the Camra list we had printed, this did have some good ale and nicely decorated, a little more to my taste than partner's.

Pub type meals but very good selection and good value for money. Very convenient not far from city centre.
