Booked in July for a Christmas trip with daughter, Mother and aunt. Asked for rooms close together but they were miles apart, asked for twins but got double.

Excellent location, very clean and well presented but apart from one male member of staff on the reception desk, all other members of staff looked positively miserable.

Enjoyed our Christmas shopping but on the evening there was a disco, not mentioned when we booked, I complained and the very efficient gentleman covering reception gave us another room however, my mom was told that she would be on a list to be moved as there were other people complaining (we were there for two nights).

When my mother went down to reception the next morning to ask about being moved they were awake until 1am, what looked like the female manager was extremely rude, saying that she should not have gone to bed so early and if she wanted quiet she should have booked a different hotel when all she would have heard was "foxes and wolves".

The restaurant was overpriced and the cocktails not as advertised on the website, the girl behind the bar had to refer to the ingridents and served the cocktail in a pint glass!!

Breakfast was excellent. Overall a bit expensive but you pay for the central location which is excellent. I did not feel valued as a customer, but would stay again for location, but request a quiet room if booking in December.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the difficulties you experienced regarding unhelpful reception staff. I can confirm that we did experience some operational issues during this time. However, i am now sure that we have a newly trained reception team and the Duty Manager you describe has since left the hotel. I believe a future experience will be most different. Please call me if you would like to give us another chance.

You couldnt be any more central than this hotel. Check in was quick and efficent. Our room was very clean but very small. The bathroom was again very clean. Breakfast good with the cooked part freshly done. On the down side there is no parking and you have to park in the local ncp but you do get a discount from the hotel. W arrived back at the hotel after a night out at 10:45 hoping for a drink in the bar to find the doors and locked and we had to ring for a night watch man and the bar closed.
A nice clean quite hotel but was glad we got a late deal as it is not worth the prices they charge.

Had a family get-together here. Absolutely dreadful. The only redeeming thing I can mention is that the (newly appointed) chef was profusely apologetic for the mess up which front desk had created in not informing him of our booking. He did not have enough food on our first night to give us proper meals so he arranged the following night for us to eat for free. The food was good (so it should be at the prices normally charged)
Everything else was dismal. Staff on front desk were clueless and generally unhelpful. My mother's needs as a disabled older person were completely ignored by the hotel manager even though this had been explained when the booking was made. There seemed to be no concept of "service" or "customer".
Also there is no parking so you pay a fortune to leave your car in a multistorey - they claim to give you a discount - I think it amounted to £2 off. We were left tpo pay the remaining £25 for 48 hours parking.

A really well situated city centre hotel. Rooms very clean, especially the bathroom, and well equipped. Very good breakfast with the full English part freshly cooked to order. Breakfast staff very efficient and friendly and room service when extras requested was excellent. Bed nice and firm and hotel room quiet and comfortable - highly recommended. Only negatives were that newspaper wasn't complimentary and had to use local NCP carpark for 24 hours as no parking facilities at hotel itself. Also no leisure facilities if that's what you are looking for...

This is such an average hotel. The rooms are OK, the service is OK, the value is OK. Reception was decidedly dusty. The stair rails and bannisters badly need polishing. Breakfast was disappointing. Lots of stairs and corridors to reach your room and the lift is miniscule. In summary do not expect to be excited by this hotel. Its a bed not a destination
