We had a weekend stay in this hotel and didn't really know what to expect other than it's star rating. What can I say? The staff are absolutely wonderful - friendly, courteous, smiling and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. We parked in the Grosvenor shopping centre (no on-site parking) and made the short walk to the hotel. Check in was a breeze and we declined the offer of assistance to take our bags to our room. Maybe we should have taken up that offer as the lift in the hotel is very small - you'll struggle to get more than a couple of people with bags in there but it was a novelty. The hotel was warm, maybe a bit too warm in the room but that was easily solved by opening a window. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom large (although it would be nice to have net curtains over the frosted window whilst having a shower). We arrived late so ate in the restaurant on the first night - the steak I had was cooked to perfection and the double fried chips were delightful. The chef has to be commended for producing an excellent meal. Breakfast the next morning was good - I went for the cooked breakfast option (no buffet) and asked for extra bacon and sausage - not a problem, You have GOT to go for the sausages - they are delicious! I could have wolfed down half a dozen no problem! After breakfast, we started out on the long walk to the city centre - all 10 yards of it. Yes, that's right, the hotel is right on the corner of the high street so ideally placed for shopping which is what we did, nipping back to the hotel from time to time to stash our haul. The location is magnificent and so convenient for everything. The price of the room for our stay was very reasonable and certainly a lot less than what we paid for when we stayed in the Grosvenor just up the street. Whilst the Grosvenor is a 5 star hotel, it definitely doesn't give you value for money and that's where New Blossoms really comes in to it's own - it's a great hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough - 4 star quality at a 3 star price. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Chester.
Location can't fault, service great. Breakfast was excellent. Only problem room tiny as was the bed!! Wish we had asked for better room but we arrived late so just got changed and went out. Mentioned it to reception when we checked out, they said would have moved us no problem. very very friendly will be back next visit to Chester
We stayed New Year's Eve, arrived at 1pm and our room was ready, we were given a free upgrade from double too an executive suite, very nice surprise. The young chap on reception was efficient, friendly and very helpful. Our room was very good, first floor, and unlike the other reviews we've read, we didn't have a problem with the disco music because we didn't hear it at all. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis, our last drink on New Year's Eve was in the hotel bar, it was very pleasant , not a lot of choice for my personal taste, but prices were on par with the local bars . I agree the hotel did seem to bypass the new years celebrations but the town itself was buzzing with choice. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, service was good friendly and quick.
All in all I would recommend this hotel too anyone, it is a working progress , being painted and decorated, but as with all hotels it has wear and tear visible. But the staff rectify problems ASAP
Arrived to very nice room on 2nd floor. Complimentary water not sealed? No blind on bathroom which was facing Main Street. We were moved to room 107. If you expect to sleep before 6am in this room think again as it above a nightclub. The noise was horrendous and not what I wanted for a £135 per night room. The radiators in the room on full so sweltering to add to misery. Decor fine, expected from listed building. Bathroom funny shape so couldn't bend down over basin as too close to shower screen so brushed teeth from height. Hotel decided not to join in New Year's Eve, nothing going on at all. Maybe would have been okay if someone had properly checked original room and made sure there was a blind on window as you would expect from 4 star. Would I return, probably not unless I inspected room first.
Our second floor room looked nice until we noticed the bathroom had no blind and faced the main Street. We rang reception and were moved to the first floor and as we discovered later, above a nightclub! For a 4 star hotel this is a poor show. We paid £135 for be and breakfast and we won be staying for breakfast. The noise is just too much. We came for News years eve as a treat and is has turned into a farce. We understand it is new year but we wanted to celebrate our own way and not have to listen to the the thump thump thump like we were in Magaluf. If you want a peaceful break this is not the place to come. The hotel is not what you would expect from a 4 star in fact I have stayed in better Premier Inns. I am annoyed to have wasted so much money on such a poor hotel. Apart from the thumping noise It appears this hotel has bypassed New Year's Eve. We even had to go and find a barman to sell us a bottle of wine.
