“Not as good as expected.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

Came here on Groupn deal for one night, to include a meal at MPW steakhouse. Check in was fast and our twin room was as expected. Unfortunately, the previous occupant had left chocolate (I'm guessing here) finger marks all over the reading light switch. Obviously housekeeping had not noticed. The extractor fan in the bathroom was loud. We turned the air con off and opened a window for fresh air yet there was a clattering and rattling coming from the system that woke us several times in the night.
Our meal in MPW steakhouse was fine, nothing special at all. I felt like a poor relation as we had to choose from 'the Groupon menu'. The restaurant staff were very friendly and obliging.
Breakfast next morning was adequate with the usual choices.

+My friend and i have just returned from a groupon deal at this hotel/spa the deal was 4pm til 10pm with a access to spa facilities and a treatment.
we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and given robes, towels and slippers and the low down to where everything was and sent on our way.
the spa was lovely with plenty of loungers and hooks for robes. The steam rooms, saunas, showers and pool areas were all working and well maintained. The treatment was wonderful and the therapist very warm and friendly and even found me a sample sachet of face cream as i had forgotten to pop mine in my bag.

- My only let downs for this place were, no snacks served after 5pm (i was starving have'n not eaten since 10am, although i did manage to find an apple in the spa waiting room and half a cup of luke warm cinnamon tea - yuck!) My friend and i also thought the "dreamroom" could have also befitted from some relaxing music to mask the annoying vibrating sound coming from the water ripple tub!!
oh, and just on a promotions basis it would have been nice if we had been told what products we used on our treatments and prices if we had wished to purchase them as they were lovely.
it would have been nice to have elemis products in the shower too instead of those horrible cheap products that all spa use.

but value for money all the same ;-)
and we have been to quite a few spas!!

We booked a spa day here - The Gold Romantic escape, plus an hour in the couple's suite. The spa facilities themselves were quite nice, the outdoor jacuzzi was nice on the cold clear day we had.
It was ridiculously busy in there however, and we felt like we could not relax. It was clear that there were an army of Groupon voucher holders that had been booked in and so there were no loungers or chairs left to relax on.
Being checked into the treatment area prior to our massages it was clear that the staff need some more training in order to deliver a consistent and relaxing service. Some people were taken into the receiving area, others were pointed in the general direction.
The ladies who gave our treatments also did not aid the relaxing feel - it was almost military in the way our treatment was described to us.
The massage itself was pleasant, and they did work on some of our problem areas.
At the reception desk it was clear that the spa was overbooked, as they were in a state - forgetting to give people towels, locker keys, directions, robes, and towards the end of the day it looked like they had just run out of a lot of these things.

Booking an hour together in the couple's spa was definitely the right thing to do as it gave us a chance to relax properly. One thing I did note though was that there was no where to get a drink from in there, nor were we offered one, despite the fact we were told repeatedly that the best thing to do after a massage is to drink plenty!

Probably a good deal on a Groupon, but not for the full price we paid.

Really like this hotel was very clean and the rooms where amazing. I got upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite due to the hot water not working in one of the rooms. Both suites here really nice and comfortable. The spa is just amazing and believe me i have been to some really nice ones i loved the way it was designed.

I surprised my husband by booking the presidential suite for his 30th Birthday. we went on the Sunday and had a look round Cheshire Oaks before checking in at the hotel. Cheshire Oaks is about 10-15mins away by car. When we did get to the hotel we was told that our room was not ready...we got there at 2:30 and check im was anytime after 2pm . The receptionist directed us to the brassiere where we could get a cup of tea etc. We ordered 2 cappucinos..came to £6.50! I thought they wouldve been complimentary and maybe i shouldve said something...but being the polite quiet person i am..i just paid(but moaned later) . By 3:30 the receptionist still hadnt seem to us so i went and found out what was happening. FFinally we could go to our..BIG room

It was fab! A big lounge area and a big bedroom with a large walk in shower.2 rain showers..massive bath. oh it was fab. My husband received a Birthday cake . The spa is fab too. We went into the jucuzzi not aware that there was an opening which you swam thru that took you thru to the open roof part of the jucuzzi...it had started snowing so we sat in a girgeous hot jucuzzi with the snow falling on us. it was wonderful. We also tried the different steam rooms which were lovely. The reception at the spa provide towels
for you.

That night we was going to go down to the restrauant but decided to make the most of our room and ordered room service which was very nice.

The bed was very big and ultra comfy. memory foam bed and pillows! The heating came on tho in the middle of the night and i was sweltering. I couldnt change the settings..so i opened the windows.

Breakfast had a big choice to pick from..traditional english, cereals, cakes, muffins, fruit etc.

Overall we did have a fantastic time..and if you are going to Chester especially with a loved one Id defiantly recommend this hotel. This has been our 2nd time now and if we go chester again we would stay here.

Room Tip: All rooms are fab. But if its a special occassion...book the presidential suite
