“Really "old-style"”

The hotel is in a really good zone (near the railway station) and not too far from the city center. The structure is quite old but comfortable with all the services. The people are really nice and friendly.

I stayed here as a passenger on a coach trip and I suspect we were given the smaller rooms! Some one else said they liked the creaking floorboards but surely not whilst you are trying to sleep and from the room above! The rooms were clean and beds comfortable and once you had realised you had to run the cold water first or you would be scolded with the temperature of the hot you were ok in the bath. The hospitality tray was replenished every day and included biscuits! The breakfasts were plentiful and set you up for the day so you didn't have to waste time looking for food on your excursions. The dinners were very good and different each night although the vegetables were a bit sparse! The entertainment in the evenings were great including a quiz, bingo, a male duet, a female singer and a solo male singer. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A great base if you are travelling by train as the station is just across the road and a ten minute walk into town.

Just steps away from the Chester train station. I spent one night at the Westminster, and loved it. Friendly, helpful, & courteous, front desk staff. Loved the creaking stairs and hallways, in a fine olde hotel built in the 1800s, newly refurbished I was told. Helpful in directing me to downtown, which is about an easy 15 minute walk. I did it in the rain, stopping at a local coffee shop for hot chai tea...lol! Only had traditional a English Breakfast the following morning, before checking out. Single room is small (on 3rd floor), but was very comfortable, no a/c so slept with window open, for that fresh English air to filter in. Loved it!

Room Tip: Sorry, there is no pool, hit that button by mistake

Stayed on Saturday night having paid £139 for an Executive Room (room 308). Disappointed would not describe it, good job I didn't have a cat to swing! The bathroom was bigger than the room. Asked at Reception whether this was really an Executive room to be told that it was recently refurbished and had an iPod dock! Was offered another room but told that it was the same size and no bigger rooms were available, so stuck with it really.

On the plus side my wife liked the "recently refurbished" wallpaper ( though the period yellowing wood chip on the ceiling had seemingly been overlooked) and the bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a decent selection of fare though slightly irritating to be asked at least three times by different members of staff for room number.

Won't be returning.

Good location close to the rail station. Small dark room over furnished with well worn furniture. Very little space to move around, one wall socket for clock radio, kettle and hair drier. We needed lights on all day. The newly refurbished bathroom had an over bath shower, unfortunately the shower screen was so big that we couldn’t reach around it to the bath taps, we had get into the bath in order to turn on the taps. The creaking floorboards were and annoyance but maybe to be expected in an old building.
The Wine, Dine and Dream offer worked out well. The 3 course menu was good and finished off with our choice of wine each evening, what’s not to like. Breakfast was very good, and all the waiting staff helpful and pleasant. Our little room at the back bore no resemblance to anything shown on the website. We would return to the Westminster but would ensure we’re able to check out the room before accepting it.

Room Tip: Upper floor may eliminate noise from squeaky floorboards above.

Ideal location near Railway Station near bus stops and walking distance to town.

Room was comfortable and had tea and coffee facilities although some of the furniture in room 6 was a bit dated with not many T V Channels.

The staff was welcoming and the breakfast variety was good and very well laid out

All in all yes very clean and tidy although they could not find my reservation when I booked in and had to take a photocopy of my e mail from Superbreaks the booking agent.

This hotel is in a great location. Literally on the train stations doorstep. Looks nice from outside, nice lobby. Rooms are ok, maybe a little dated. Pillows are like sleeping on concrete, shower is lukewarm at best. 24 hour room service, which is advertised, is not 24 hour at all. Tried to get something to eat at half 12 (am) and was told no.

Overall a nice looking hotel but I'd look elsewhere if you want comfort

Dear Belsh80
Thank you for your review, I apologise that you had a problem with the water temperature and I have had the maintenance team look at this following your review, I will investigate as to why you could not get food at 12.30 am as we always have a selection of cold items available so would like to apologise for this. Hopefully you will visit us again to allow us to prove that this was not normal service.
