“Fantastic New Year Celebration”
Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

Just home after celebrating the New Year at Queen Hotel. Can't put into words how fantastic it was. It was quite busy at reception when we arrived but staff were efficient and booking in was without incident. We chose to travel by car and were lucky to find space in the hotel car par. I suspect this wasn't the case for everyone.

We opted to stay in one of the Kings Rooms and were very pleased with our room which looked out over a little courtyard. Usual facilities as would be expected but with extra touches of bath robes and slippers etc.
Bath was larger than average and lovely fluffy bath sheets. It took a few minutes to work out that the lights are on a dimmer switch. The bed was a large king size and I found it very comfortable. The room was quiet despite being near the main road.

New Years gala dinner was fab. Despite there being a large number of guests our food arrived to table hot and waiting staff were available throughout without undue delay. The wine flowed freely and the bar was generous. My compliments to the chefs who delivered a well presented and tasty meal. The haggis being piped in was a nice touch.

Overall impression, a fantastic celebration in a fantastic hotel. Thanks guys, hope to see you next year.

When we were greeted by the Manager and he said he had 500 Guests for the Christmas period My wife said I hope they can cope.
Cope they did 100 percent I don't know how they did it .
Full marks to the manager all his staff are a credit to him.

We have just had two nights at the queens hotel to be a part of the celebrations for our close friends wedding it was a lovely few days. The room on the kings side was lovely, the customer service of reception staff was excellent from check in to check out! Breakfast was excellent and plenty to choose! Wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.

Booked Kings rooms at this hotel for my Mum and I for a weekend away in early November.

The rooms are gorgeous - lovely, comfortable beds, fab bathrooms & all home comforts including a generous, fluffy bathrobe.

The outstanding thing about this hotel for me was the service we received from every member of staff. We arrived in Chester Saturday mid morning by train, so we popped in to reception to ask if they would look after our luggage until we could return to check in. Not only were they totally happy to do that, but the member of staff on the desk allowed us to check in to one of our rooms as it was already available - which was just perfect.

During our entire stay every member of staff we met was friendly, polite, helpful and made us feel welcome and valued.

The only thing that let this lovely hotel down a little was the breakfast experience. We stayed a Saturday and Sunday night, so breakfasted on Sunday and Monday. The food was ok - nothing outstanding but the usual selections and adequate. Sunday morning's breakfast was accompanied by a live singer/pianist - not bad, but too loud and not in my mind following a suitable playlist for the time/atmosphere - and in stark contrast to the hotel staff, he was very sloppily dressed. The following day the room was much quieter, yet the Maître D insisted on seating us right next to another occupied table, much to our discomfort and theirs. Such a shame as elsewhere the service was so amazing!

All in all tho, a great hotel & I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: King's rooms are gorgeous.

Just returned from a lovely night at the hotel.
Room was spotless and of a really good size with lovely deep bath to relax.
Booked through Travelzoo with a dbb offer for a very good price.
Food was excellent and all staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness, friendliness and peace and quiet despite being near the train station.
Also nice to have hot chocolate and biscuits in room along with usual tea /coffee facilities.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 140 which overlooks car park , however quiet and of a good size.
